Favorite Resident Evil and should the series end?

I've been a fan of the series from the start but my favorite is RE Remake on Gamecube. The series has gotten steadily worse this gen. In my opinion, RE5 was great, RE6 enjoyable, RE Rev felt like a chore and RE ORC was crap.

RE7 has apparently already been confirmed as being in production which is no surprise. I'm hoping for two more RE games. I want an ending to the series with RE7 with Chris, Jill and Leon being playable. I want all loose ends tied to fan satisfaction.

The last RE game I want is Outbreak 3 on PSV.

Give me those last two titles and then let the series die.

What are your thoughts?

I liked 2 the best because of the way they handled the 2 major storylines. I hope the next one is improved over the ;ast one, it had promise but failed...

Resident Evil (The Original) + Resident Evil : Code Veronica are my favourites.
Resident Evil 7 should be the final game where they bring everybody back and tied all the loose ends up.

I just hope they don't make it like Resident Evil 6.

I dont know for me REmake is the greatest example of the series but I love RE3 witch contains my favorite monster by far.If I really had to choose i guess I would lean a tiny bit more towards REmake. Also I think the series can still be good revlations is a example of this.

I loved the Remake for the GameCube, and RE4 quite a bit. The 2nd and 3rd were great as well.

They should reboot the franchise because it has gotten away from its true roots. RE5 & 6 were major letdowns for me.

RE4 was the only one I could finish. REmake was the experience I enjoyed the most.

The others are either relics that were never actually that good or out right sucked.

RE 2 is my favorite RE game.

My friends, the sad fact is, Resident Evil was never good to begin with. The writing, the voice work, the controls, the puzzles, it was all terrible long, long before Resident Evil 4. A nostalgic attitude of influenced youth has tinted peoples perceptions.

A prime example, play System Shock 2, which to this day, is a masterpiece, then go back and play Resident Evil 1,2,3.

They by comparison, then, not just now, with age, are terrible games.

it wont end, oh no. It takes makes too much money for that. It's rather irrelevant at this point to have an opinion on the subject.

The series ended so poorly with Wesker, I was left disappointed but was still craving for more. It needs to end right so we can all finally put it to rest.

I did not play RE6 because the camera looked awful and so did the gameplay.

RE4 was my favorite

and no, Resident Evil should not end, even RE6 being a weak entry in the series was decent enough in design, if anything Capcom in general has been suffering from quality assurance problems that have been their since Platinum headhunted their staff but that's no reason to abandon a successful series because those same problems will be there no matter what games they make

REmake was by far the best one... I'd like them to continue the series, but more in the vain of the pre RE4 games. You know, when the series was about careful planning and puzzles instead of TPS action.

Remake

Yes, they should end the series for good. It doesn't seem like they'll ever want to go back to it's roots so just kill it off like a bad weed. RE right now is just a bad action game.

I found REmake to be the best then followed by RE2. RE5 & 6 were pretty awful. Some things need to end, so yes, I say pull the plug. The story lines was always a bit cheesy but its so far gone now.

Fav RE: RE4

I dont want the series to end, i just want capcom to make RE more like 4 and less like 5/6. For that, they have

> Less amo = less shooting = more survival

> Make it on a dark/moody setting. Ambiance is everything in RE

> make some clever puzzles

> Bosses with great design and clever tactics to beat (other than "shoot glowing part for massive damage"). One good example to follow is the blind guy in RE4

I feel 4 ruined the series and should've been the beginning of a new series. Great game, awful Resident Evil and it led the way to the action packed series we have now.

I really loved the original, 2, 3, Code Veronica and Outbreak.

4 is not bad.

5 and 6 are fucking terrible!

I would say that the franchise needs a huge reboot.

Favorite: Resident Evil 4, followed by REmake and Resident Evil 2.

Should have ended: Resident Evil 4, because obviously the only direction afterwards was down.

I'd say Resident evil 3 and CVX were easily my favorite games.

As a huge fan of the series i'd say the series should end. While I've thoroughly enjoyed 5-6 as co-op games the production value has become nothing but ass.

They've ruined a pretty decent ( if you can deal with it) expanded universe in my opinion and have missed a lot of opportunities on the story front. The gameplay and everything else peaked with 4. And while I understand things need to change they absolutely screwed it all up. It's a shame to see a series come so far peak and fall ungracefully. But nonetheless things change I presume.,

CVX I believe proves this wrong.

From gameplay, to story elements, to sheer horror CVX was the cream of the crop for the franchise. Especially when it released a year later from RE3.

Resi Evil 4

RE remake GC, RE2, RE Zero, & RE4...it went downhill after that..bringing in co-op shit. hey now you have 2 guns. They should end it if they want co-op. Even RE:Revelations..need remove co-op.

I have been a fan of the series from RE1 to Code Veronica. I don't think the series should end, but they do need to go back to their slow paced survival horror origins.

RE 2 & 4 are tied for my favorites. I liked 1-5 and didn't like 6. I like Code Veronica & no other spin-offs.

I've always found it odd that so many compare 4 and 5 as being so different. If you changed the control system to A (I think) in RE5, it was essentially the exact same controls and feel of RE4. The story of RE5 was unarguablly cemented in the RE universe and gave fans of both Chris and Wesker closure on the long held story arc between the two.

As a fan that's enjoyed both the classic and 4/5 gameplay types, i thought RE5 was a good RE game.

What are your main reasons as to why RE4 was great and why RE5 "sucked"?

Resident Evil ended years ago as far as I am concerned. Still haven't played 6, doubt I ever will.

Code Veronica's suckage could only be one upped by Resident Evil Zero.

Would sooner play those imaginary Silent Hill games that came after Silent Hill 3.

I played 4 on GC , at first i was omg this is cool but after the first graphical shock and all ... Was the worst experience i could ever imagine for a RE game. Both gameplay wise, atmosphere wise , story wise ... Game became from a classic survival/horror zombie apocalyptic game to an action based , alienated shooter game.

From 4 and beyond , RE wasnt RE anymore. Period

Resident Evil 4 is by far the best and nothing in the series comes anywhere close, but Resident Evil 5 is a perfectly good game.

Frankly, it's pretty stupid to want a franchise dead because RE6 sucked, so no, I don't want the series to end.

What the hell ? Do you even played Code Veronica when it first released on DreamCast ?!! Was x10 better than any Re released up to that time. Countless of bosses , great characters , great progression , great atmosphere , amazing boss encounters ... damn !! I cant expect much from a guy that saying RE4 was the best RE i guess ...

Obviously you played Code Veronica or any other RE game prior to CV way after their releases. Its obvious..

Remake would be my personal favorite, as for the series I don't really care about it since I have long given up on them.

Honestly I love RE2,RE4,RE1 Remake and Outbreak all equally and RE6 had it's moments (good and bad). The series shouldn't end, the fans just need to get their heads out of their asses and stop being so pretentious cause it's getting old fast, I mean RE fans are starting to even getting more annoying than Zelda fans and that's pretty sad.

I've never gotten to play 1, REmake, or 3.

I absolutely love the setting and the music of the 2nd one. 4 is just a lot of fun.

I think if reviews for 5 and 6 had never been released then those games would be a lot more well received and liked by gamers, they just scored lower than 4 so "they suck".

Revelations had an awesome atmosphere as well, but only for a few parts :( I loved the first few hours on the ship, and when you have to backtrack to the beginning areas I was genuinely scared. However, I would put that lower than 4,5,and 6.

I need to put REmake on my list of games to get someday, thanks for reminding me everyone!

The series is dead, they're probably working on Operation Raccoon City 2.

co-op/ai partners that was a huge difference & also where it fails..co-op/ai partner is not needed for RE. Co-op *may* work is if your characters are at different places & have to work your way through to find each other, with your own horde of enemies you have to face yourself. In RE4 its only you, 1person, fending off bad guys...not with 2 guns. :p

Revelations, Umbrella Chronicles, and DarkSide Chronicles were excellent (better than 5&6 no doubt). If there is any sequel be to one of those. But with them saying RE fans are too old and they need to focus on younger gamers, I don't see that happening. Enjoy more Gears of Uncharted Evil, aka the series is dead.

Series didn't get good until 5, and 6 was the best. The next one needs to be like 6.

1, 2, and code veronica were my favorites.

And it should have ended at 3, and definitely should have died before 4 came out and mikami removed all elements of horror and started the action phase of the franchise.
