What do you all think?

See what happens various game companies that DON'T listen to your fan bases? This is what happens when literally millions of people beg for a game that you say no to, and instead make Sonic 1,000. If they are smart they should see how many people jump to get it. I'm sure it would be a decent number. Then maybe, we can get Shenmue III. Doubtful, but a guy can dream....
Valve would have allowed them to put it on steam and probably make money from this.
Seedy companies like Sega and Naughty Dog will stop it, very sad.
The project will be shut down by Sega before it can release to anyone.
This.
Same. It is unfortunate.
What I don't understand is why Sega never ended up putting out upscaled versions of Shenmue like Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure. Did it cost them that much cash to do so to the point where a shenmue release was too risky? What I will say is that I don't think the current gamer, the younger crowd that grew up with 360/ps3, would side with the style or control of Shenmue.

If this was Square or CAPCOM I'd agree with you, but SEGA is cool about fan-made projects. Heck, they may just purchase this like they bought the guy who made the engine to port old Sonic games. Only scenario I can see where they shut it down is if they already have a Shenmue remake/remaster in the pipeline.
Sega should release YAKUZA V on western market first thing, its really awkard playing all western versions of yakuza and not able to play the best version as Yakuza Dead Souls didn't sell well on western market. Sega is crazy to compare Yakuza Dead Souls with Yakuza V western demand lol.

This.
@Aljosa23: No. Sega has shown in the past that they will shut down projects. Case in point was the Sonic 2 remake on PC that was shut down near the Sonic 4 release.
It was 10x better than what Sega made.
Are you talking about Sonic 2 HD? That was stopped due to internal conflict between the guys making it, not a cease development notice. SEGA lets Sonic projects happen all of the time, see Sonic Retro, because they know the masses will always buy the official releases. The Retro Engine that was used for the Sonic 1, 2, and CD remakes, was made by a member of Sonic Retro too, Christopher Whitehead, so they're in good communication with the fans on this front.
Now stuff like SoR Remake does get stopped, but in that specific case, they allowed Bombergames to finish it before officially sending a letter out first.

That ticks me off when companies do that.
Yeah, well we're not doing anything with the IP at the moment, and we certainly don't have any plans to do anything with it but Mr. Fan providing us with free labor and increasing the value of said IP all without making a single cent we will sue you into oblivion if you do not shutdown this project.
And lawyers wonder why people hate them.
