Some stray observations:
Mario Kart 8 makes the list, but not Smash Bros. U? Ouch.
More likely because it does not have a confirmed release date.

Edit: Wtf? no witcher 3? the fawk is this ? RACIST!
It's Famitsu--Japanese mag. Pretty shitty list though--probably the worst I've seen of any game site/mag. No indies. 99% sequels. Boring. I'd say it even has a hint of racism (I doubt it's a coincidence that every game in there except Watch Dogs is developed by the Japanese).
Bu bu but consoles are dead in Japan
Bu bu but Microsoft is lining up all these awesome Japanese exclusives
Some stray observations:
Compared to how it is in the UK, it's more like sympathetic.
What a coincidence my two most wanted games are FFXV and Persona 5 followed by MGS5.
Yakuza ishin would also be in there but sega had to ruin it by deciding not to localize it.

Pretty much. When a release comes, we should see it on.

It's not just promoting games made in the US. It's possible magazines like Famitsu are being highly manipulated by japan publishers to mostly dish out advertisements for their own games over other games over seas. But i'm not working there, so it's just my hunch. Over here is a popularity contest if the game is popular it'll be shown, and there's a couple of popular japan games that always show up.

Yes, all Western-developed games, and all of which could easily be mistaken for American games... For example, it's not uncommon for gamers to be confused, even here in Britain, over whether GTA is British or American.
Also, if this were an American poll of most popular films or music, I guarantee you it would be almost entirely dominated by American films and songs, with hardly any room for even Western European films/songs (besides a few British ones), let alone Asian ones.

It was a fan poll, i.e. a popularity contest, not Famitsu's own list. Different markets have different preferences. If this was a poll in America, it would be dominated by shooters and sports games, or if it was in Korea or China, it would be dominated by MMO and RTS games. And it's already well known that Japanese gamers love their JRPG's, so there's nothing unusual about a Japanese poll such as this being dominated by JRPG's, just the way it has always been.
Also, Japan's gaming industry is very old and well established, just like America's movie and music industries. When an industry has been dominated by local products for so long, it becomes difficult for outsiders to compete with the local products. The only time we see American music charts having foreign tracks, for example, is during the "British Invasions" that happen once in a while after every decade or two, or with the occasional European/Asian track once in a blue moon.
Damn a Persona game on 3DS...?
Another game I might buy this year... Also, the other games I want are Evil within, Dark Souls II and Bravely Default. outside of that I haven't seen a ton that scream "must buy."
@Sweenix: by the end 2010, it sold 160k copies and was the eighth best selling video game of the year. I don't think that counts as a flopper considering it was getting to the end of the Wii's life and it was a new IP, kind sir.
From that list I want:
1. Dark Souls II
2. MGS V
3. FF XV
4. KH 3
5. Persona 5
6. Watch Dogs
7. The Evil Within

That's not consistent every single month though you got to learn to try harder. Also forgetting about the lack of localization. And the 3DS was the best selling hardware.

All your examples are poorly though out and work completely differently. Jrpgs are actually not as popular in japan as many people think. In fact, a dev from their was complaining about that.
FF XV at this stage is dead to me. They really have to turn it around to make me interested. Take all the decisions and customisation out of RPGs and you have FF XIII.
Japan will march to it's own drum and that's fine but that list is pretty odd.
Some stray observations:
Psycho break is on there twice.
Psycho Break is a better name though. I do wonder what a psycho does on a break.
edit: multiple games are on there twice =/
Here's my list:
1) Mario Kart
2) Watch Dogs
3) Mario Kart 8
4) Wolfenstein
5) Watch Dogs
6) Infamous
7) Mario Kart
8) SSBU
9) Mario Kart 8
10) GTA V on PC... hahaha no lol, I mean Mario Kart
*looks at list*
The first gif is more fitting. Throwing up a little bit is understating.

Care to elaborate?
JRPG's not popular in Japan? You got a reliable source to back that up?
Is the weeaboo fad that prevalent now?
Why do they still have faith in Final Fantasy?
They don't. The only reason why FF XV topped the list is because FF fans have been waiting for that game for almost eight years now, ever since 2006, when it was called FF Versus XIII. That's eight years' worth of anticipation.
