Capcom has a big surprise at PAX East. Theyre porting arcade classics Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara and Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Both titles will be released as digital downloads via PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade

Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara and Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom are belt action RPGs, essentially precursors to Dragons Crown. Vanillware lead and Dragons Crown director George Kamitani actually worked on those two titles. Capcom ported both games for Sega Saturn as Dungeons & Dragons Collection, but the Japan-only compilation is pretty rare and can be expensive. Soon, everyone will be able to purchase and play these games at a much more reasonable price.

Omfg I cant wait. Capcom beat em ups are great but these games were on a whole other level. Think King of Dragons on steroids. Really looking forward to these. Maybe Capcom will be generous and add online co-op.

Thoughts?

I loved those games. Lazy port from the arcade or somehow improved?

These are quality RPG hack 'n slash games, beautifully rendered in 2D and ridiculously fun in local multiplayer.

F*ck. Radiant Silvergun, Guardian Heroes, and now this. I really need to get a 360 now.

Ah, D&D is to me a synonym for 'RPG', but yeah, they aren't RPGs.

Better said, they are quality D&D themed hack 'n slash/beat 'em up games.

they're beat'em ups like golden axe and streets of rage with a hint of RPG thrown into them. with that said, they're amongst the best the genre has to offer

I remember playing both of these games in the arcade. I wonder that they will charge for them. They are only worth about $5 a piece at this point. If Capcom charges $10 each, I'll probably hold off on them.

If the pricing is reasonable then I might give this game a try.

Probably around $10, which is kinda a ripoff.
