DriveClub Free DLC & Awesome Update! #forzawho?

Driveclub owners can now gain access to five new tracks set in Japan, via today's 3.33GB game update.

The free download also includes a multiplayer time trial mode and improvements to the game's AI and weather visuals - yes, including improved rainbows.

The five new tracks (and 11 variants) are Nakasendo, Lake Shoji, Asagiri Hills Racetrack, Takahagi Hills and Goshodaira.

Another set of changes has been included for the game's popular photo mode, including the options to hide damage and dirt, and even control the mode via a steering wheel.

The full list of patch notes, courtesy of the game's official Facebook, lies below:

Gameplay Improvements:

• Improvements to the weather visuals, including rainbows and heat haze!
• Makes changes to Drift Mode, to prevent backing up to score more points.
• Makes changes to AI drafting behaviour.
• Makes changes to the impact of world collisions whilst driving on a straight, to reduce the amount of drag and speed lost from impact.
• Adds a new option to Event Settings to race without crowd, track infrastructure and corner flags.
• Adds the option to browse and register for Multiplayer events via the Social Hub.
• Windscreen wiper speeds have been changed.
• A bug causing AI car wing mirrors to show a flase reflection has now been fixed.
• Disables overscan compensation when playing via Remote Play.
• Adds a link to the PlayStation®Store to the DRIVECLUB Home menu.
• Also includes a number of minor bug fixes, performance improvements and usability tweaks.

Photomode Improvements:

• Adds the option to reset damage and remove dirt when taking a photo.
• Adds the option to permanently hide camera movement controls when accessing Photo Mode.
• Players can now access Photo Mode while using a steering wheel via R3.
• Players can now move the camera while OSD is disabled in photo mode.

Add-ons (coming January 27-29):

• Adds support for the Icona Vulcano, coming to PlayStation®Store as a free download later in January.
• Adds support for the Apex Expansion Pack, coming to PlayStation®Store as a premium download later in January. This Expansion Pack includes the Apex Car Pack and Apex Tour Pack.
• The Apex Car Pack includes 5 new cars: Enzo Ferrari, Caterham R500 Superlight, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Centennial Edition, McLaren 650S Coupe, and Jaguar C-X75 Prototype Edition.
• The Apex Tour Pack includes 11 new Events and 5 new Trophies.
• Adds support for the Sakura Tour Pack, coming to PlayStation®Store as a premium download later in January.
• The Sakura Tour Pack includes 11 new Events and 5 new Trophies.
• Adds support for 2 new livery packs, coming to PlayStation®Store as a premium download later in January. Each Livery Pack contains 5 new livery patterns to customise your cars with.

Simply amazing. This game has really turned itself around since the dreaded launch. The level of support has been phenomenal. I really hope media outlets do a re-review. This game deserves great praise. What about you, DC owners? Are you excited? Anyone still on the fence, I recommend you give it a try!

This is all good if its a free DL, more tracks is never a bad thing in a racing game. I would still like to see a replay mode for the game though, it would really show off some of the spectacular environments and weather effects.

Cant wait. So glad i decided to buy it (got it for $29), this game is Boss.

5 new cars? holy shit. It's now only 143 cars away from Forza's total. Well, not counting the ones added in DLC, but yay.

Oh they improving the visuals!?! didnt think they could make it look anybetter, heck it looks better than real lifez already :P

Maybe one day, DriveClub will be a fraction as good as Horizon 2. Maybe.

More changes to the AI is a good thing. So far the AI is my biggest disappointment with the game followed by the dumb drifting events and then how thin the tracks are. Those tracks just aren't made for racing!

Why do you have to compare 5club to Forza? It only hurts the games image.

Yeah they released an unfinished game. Releasing updates to rectify that isn't something I'd brag about.

I'm not a racing fan in the slightest, but I played Driveclub at a buddies house last weekend and I really don't see why everyone hates on it.

The handling feels smooth and responsive, the visuals are gorgeous, etc.

that would be limited to fixing the online aspect only.

they also had to add in the dynamic weather

that is not part of fixing the game, as it was never mentioned or advertised as a feature

Forza does have many more cars, something that Forza fans were downlplaying when compared to GT. Why the sudden change of heart? DC had more than enough cars.

I'm assuming you're replying to lostrib about the weather. I can't remember if "dynamic" weather was promised (though I feel it was) but weather most certainly was promised. It appeared in most trailers pre-launched and was a touted feature of the game. No idea where you're getting it wasn't advertised from.

@soulitane: no it wasnt. The first time it was even mentioned was gamescom 2014 where a trailer at sonys conference was shown. It was announced as coming in a free update not long after launch

Not perfect....but when I say I am going to do something, I do it. For Sony to just let this happen is sad.

Might pick this up once, whenever I get a PS4, might be really cheap by then.

Bought this game last night.

Looks fantastic and is the first racer I find fun since Rallisport Challenge 2.

Received the game Last Christmas and its a lot better than I was expecting. The AI has issues, but the tracks are challenging and the rewards make most races count. I also enjoy the club aspect.. inner club competition keeps things interesting. I just wish they would add some sort of under the hood customization. But cant knock free..

Not just more, many times more. Not sure if Im even at 20% completion yet.
