According to a recent SW poll, most System Warriors think the PS5 and Xbox Series X will be $500. $500 seems to be pretty good for that type of tech. Ya know, with the flops and the SSD, 4K player, controller, etc. Having all of that in one package would be a sweet deal. I think it would be pretty hard to make a PC with that kind of tech for $500. Do you agree, SW? Or does the Master Race know a way?

I'd rather spend that $500 on my PC. I'm getting a PS5, but the PC to me is not optional anymore. Depending on how this pandemic goes, and if i'm able to return to work (chronic illness,) then i'll be doing a full upgrade.

Not for that price no, But I prefer playing on PC for reasons other then power, graphics and performance. Others may feel differently though, just my personal preference.

I don’t know. But I think $500 for a console that will last 5 years is a pretty good deal. The new features are pretty exciting too.

The PC has infinite more things you can do including emulating older consoles or computers. I just played Oregon Trail on the original Macintosh, it's just not an option on console. Plus console ads annoy me.

It has always been the case.

But that not where it's at, Pc can do lot more than a console but as a gaming device it's the most expensive.

No.

Console games are more expensive and you have to pay for online, online that is shit by the way.

Show me one person who thinks that Nintendo online is worth the money. One.

Its seems you hermits can't read to good and got offended pretty easily. Do you think you can make a PC that is as capable as what next gen consoles will be for the same price?

The answer is no, its always no, but you hermits are talking about game prices, payed online etc, dat deflection lol.

Lets be totally honest here, and most hermits love PC because these can steal games.

Can't believe i'm going to say this but the OP has a half decent thread for once lol.

Next gen consoles are always their most valuable around launch.

I would 100% rather buy a next gen console than build a PC from scratch this year.

But don't get me wrong, in a year or so, it'll definitely be worth building a PC again.

Of course right now they are better value by miles, but will that hold in November. To match the XSX it would cost as of NOW.

Rtx 2080 Super $700

Ryzen 3700X $300

Board $100

Memory $100

Power supply $50

Case $50

1TB SSD $150

KB/M $75

4k blu ray $70

Roughly $1500 for pc builders.

Every console has better value than PC from a price to performance perspective. Its always been that way.

PC gives you choices and power and has a price premium due to the parts manufactured in isolation, rather than a console that is manufactured and assembled in one place through contractual deals with the parts manufacturers.

This is clearly another Oh PC is expensive.

Its the same as me making a thread right now titled "12TFLOPs is that enough for Next Gen games and Ray Tracing? since a 2080 Ti can just scrape by with games at 4K/60 Ultra settings without Ray Tracing with CURRENT GAMES!"... The answer will be no.

I still don't understand why people think this is how PC works. You don't throw out your PC and buy a new one from scratch each time a new console comes out.

Isn't the 5700xt already listed at close to 10 TFLOPs? and you can already get one of those for like $400.

and the new consoles aren't out for another like 8 months or so

That’s a great deal at $1,000, let alone $500-$600. Let’s see if the masses notice the value and how well Microsoft and Sony can market them.

I have been told by a particular faction that if you can play consoles games on PC, consoles are useless so using that logic consoles are not a better value.

If you use the logic of the every day person in which they just want to play games hassle free on the TV at the lowest cost. Consoles are the better value without question.

Well TFLOPS between AMD and Nvidia are not equal. Nvidia 2070 which is rated at 8TFLOPS performs better than AMD 12+ TFLOPS Vega 64. The RTX was available in 2018 and would still be viable today. So, yes you would still spend $500 but you would have spent that 2 years prior to this upcoming gen.

Largely kids with no jobs.

I've blown more than $500 on an evening of fun. Dropping a cool grand or more on PC parts isn't anything to sweat about. But when your income is whatever allowance your parents give you I suppose it's a bit different.

For what the consoles will cost, $500 can get you a low end-tier rig (that's if you're not accounting for monitor, mouse, KB, etc). Probably able to run most games at low to medium settings, depending. For gaming value, you have places like Steam, GoG and Epic with access to thousands of games that have reasonable try-out refund policies. Plus you can use your PC for many other things.

PC is a great value any way you cut it. I'd say unless the exclusives of the console makers interest you more, it's always the way to go.

Sure, but typically the settings that are used on consoles are equivalent to medium on a PC. If you're going to compare high on PC to high on consoles, consoles will be on the losing end.

Like every gen, the hardware will cost more but you will pay far less over time since games are cheaper and less subscription fees.

I paid $1700 CAD for the best laptop available in Canada in sept 2019.

The PS5 will equal or demolish it. I have no doubt about it. It’s crazy what Sony and Microsoft is offering us.

And according to steam, it will demolish 99% of your guys rigs. So lol

Laptops aren't for gaming. I know some people do it, but it's not the optimal PC experience.

Consoles simply can't replicate a proper PC setup. My main gaming rig runs three screens, is routed through a 90's-era Pioneer rack sound system via optical, boots into a custom-cut Gentoo Linux environment maxing out at about 700MB of RAM usage and also dual-boots to Windows 10 if a game just has to have it...

In the basement I have my flight sim system set up with an LCD projector on a curved solid surface with an adaptive lens. Rudder pedals, force-feedback HOTAS (and I don't mean rumble, I mean motorized pulling of the joystick against your efforts), working analog dashboard (for IL2:Sturmovik) and radio break-out. Also, I got a butt rumbler on the chair because nothing beats constipation like the low frequency rumble of an HE-111 at cruise.

I got a VR PC system in the basement, too. I'm not happy with it because it doesn't fit over my glasses well, and I have to go to the optometrist to get a prescription for the lenses I need to go in the headset. Guess who isn't seeing people during this plaque?

Still rather even have an old ass PC.

It's all about the games and the majority of what I like doesn't even come to consoles.

Of course, if all you do with your PC is playing current games.

Since MS is going to use Win10 for the XSX, they might as well allow people to use it as any PC - that way they would kill the PS5 next gen (a small powerful console you can work on as well as game? that's a great deal for a lot of people).

That's today. By the time the new consoles are released, a 10TFlop GPU will cost no more than $350, plus you always get some cash by selling your old GPU, so depending on what you were aleady using, it might cost you $200-$300 in the end.

It's a great deal for a cost efficient, reliable system.

Stronger than my current PC in every way possible.
