Since the superior Space Alien SSD technology of the PS5 destroys the PC version of TLOU Part 1, instead of doing a traditional optimized PC vs console analysis, Alex Battaglia had chosen to do a PC vs PS5 whine fest video in it's place.

Enjoy Alex Battaglia's excuses, tears and bitterness for failing to recognize the technical superiority of his Japanese overlords Sony for creating the holy PS5.

• 2 PC builds used for this video vs PS5:

1. Alex's Ryzen 5 3600/RTX 2070 SUPER/1440 DLSS high/Medium Textures
2. Rich's Core I9 12900k/RTX 4080/NATIVE 4K/Ultra Settings

• Pre-shader compilation time after the latest parch on Ale'x rRyzen 5 3600 2070 Super took 25minutes 14seconds down from 41 minutes 23 seconds. On the superior PS5 no pre-shader complication step is required.
• According to Alex, the game is severely CPU limited on PC because the game is streaming things in the background and decompressing them at the same time. As Mark Cerny already explained to everyone in Road to PS5, the superior PS5 handles this task flawlessly.
• To match PS5 load times, Rich's Core I9 12900k RTX 4080 was needed. Alex's Ryzen 5 3600 2070 Super set up was almost 3x the load time.
• Ultimately, PS5 is the superior way to play a game that's actually designed for PS5, surprise!?

At one point Alex Battaglia claims his 2070 Super is running the same 1440p Resolution at PS5, lol when he was utilizing 1440p DLSS!?

FYI: Below are the ACTUAL resolutions in DLSS when using 1440p.

1440p:

Quality: 1707x960p (Let's assume he's using quality, it's still less than 1080p vs PS5 @1440p native!)

Balance: 1485x835p

Performance: 1280x720p

Ultra Perf: 853x480p

For the majority of the video the 2070 Alex's Super was running no where close to PS5's resolution despite it's significantly lower performance at all times.

Again this is NOT a 1 to 1 comparison.

This is using the sub 1080p (DLSS 1440p) internal resolution of 2070 S vs PS5 at native 1440p here and this is the result.

Below is 2070 Super vs PS5 both at native 1440p

Alex once argued 2060 super was on par with PS5, oof.

Well, ND did a PS5 native title. It's not a cross-gen game that short sighted Alex Battagia keeps referencing for games that performed better on PC compared to PS5.

Cross gen games do not actually use the technology PS5 has available. This game does. It's not ND's fault if your PC is too shit to match a title created to run on the Space Alien SSD PS5. Time to upgrade filthy PC peasant

That's the beauty of consoles. Devs can optimize to get the most out of the hardware. The equivalent horsepower on a PC(or recommended specs) are always way above what PS5 is on paper. PC also has a billion other things running in the background which probably doesn't help.

ND told you the specs you'd need to have a similar experience on PC. All you need is a 4080 with at least a Core i5 12600k and you're all set.

They literally gave showed you on their specs chart before release so you PC peasants were warned. PC is an open platform, it's not ND's fault if your shitty PC isn't capable of matching PS5's in a PS5 designed title.

If your preferred platform is PC, $hut up and upgrade.

Yet a technical masterpiece like RE4 runs almost flawlessly on PC. It's as if ND(yes, Naughty Dog) did a shitty job with optimization as opposed to the PS5 being technically superior.

I don't get why people are claiming that PC's are at fault here. This is a bad port of a console game. Are we gonna act like there haven't been bad ports on consoles?

This is the fastest port Sony has done and it shows.

Meanwhile Returnal launch a month before this and runs fine, I played it until completion with no perfomance hitches.

The next Sony port will no doubtedly run fine too, especially if it's being handled by Nixxes.

This would be a super solid argument had it not been for the fact that we already had a few ND games on PC already that were good ports. This has little to do with how the hardware works and more to do with the code not working the way it was intended. Software bugs are hardware agnostic in most cases and the fault is squarely on ND or whoever did the port. This could very well have happened on any other platform.

I've been enjoying playing TLOU on PC for almost a week and I did run into a few problems here and there but nothing major game crashing.

Most likely why the reason ND wanted to do this in-house is that they plan on doing their upcoming pc releases themselves as well(like upcoming factions), so this is a learning experience for them.

I'm surprised they took a week to get anything out on this. If it had been perfect we would have two or three different videos from them by now. It's like they were hoping they could attend to it once a hot patch fixed it enough to make a video showering it with flowery praise. But, I think they knew even that would look suspect so we finally released something.

Seems most gaming news outlets are holding out for a state they can slap a better score onto it. Otherwise they'd have reviews for it. And they don't take much time to do port reviews, GameSpot gave Nier Automata a 9/10 on Switch after spending only an hour on it. So, that's quite peculiar, regardless of whether Sony sent out review codes or not.

Starting to look like gaming journalists are putting their thumbs on the scale for Sony. Not surprising for GameSpot as they delayed reviews to Street Fightsr 5 and Gran Turismo until the game was in a better state to score those. No other publisher gets such beneficial deference.
