February 2nd marks the release of the very first Digimon RPG game since the PS2 era to the West

Anyone getting this game? i already have it for pre-order :D

Digimon World Cyber Sleuth:

Due to a great success of this game in Japan Namco is working on a sequel.

Plot:

Players assume the role of either Takumi Aiba (相羽 タクミ Aiba Takumi^?) or Ami Aiba (相羽 アミ Aiba Ami^?), male and female Japanese amateur hackers. They receive a device called a Digimon Capture from a mysterious stranger in a chat room which allows them to capture and befriend Digimon, creatures who inhabit a next-generation version of the internet called Cyberspace Eden which users can physically enter. After traveling to the lowest levels of Eden, they are attacked by a data-based entity called an "Eater" who leaves their bodies half-digitized, and find that they can now freely travel between the real world and the virtual world via terminals. They are approached by a woman named Kyoko Kuremi, head of the Kuremi Detective Agency, who recruits them as part of their cyber division.

"Digimon Story" is an interesting attempt to showcase the series to a modern audience, while also pleasing older fans of the franchise. There are over 200 Digimon to recruit and train, including a number of creatures from the fan favorite anime series.

Players will also be able to travel between the real world and digital world, which is a first for a "Digimon" game. Previous games in the series had players get stuck in the digital world or had it integrated with society, making it a normal thing.

Gameplay:

Gameplay is an interesting mix of "Pokemon" and "Persona," with a turn-based battle system that will please old-school gamers and a heavy emphasis on training the character’s Digimons.

Vita always get game releases but most of the games arent recognized by people since they arent 4k with and dont have muscular men with guns

I was talking more about this being originally a japanese vita game but enough Western vita gamers petitioned for it that Bandai Namco considered the localization

Didnt know there was a petition for digimon since namco announced the localization fairly quickly from what i remember.. now Tales franchise had a lot of localization petitions going for it till Namco cracked lol

Digimon went on a long, long, very long break for like an entire generation i believe heck even in anime but namco brought it back not only in anime (there's a new digimon anime releasing thats getting a lot of buzz actually a continuation from the original digimon if i remember correctly) but also in the video games department so this is as i mentioned in the OP the very first digimon RPG in a long, long time and the game done very well for itself in Japan that there's a sequel coming out.

we could see this franchise coming back once again to have many games for it

I wouldn't play it if it were free, but that's just me. Not even into Pokemon for that matter.

I'm not sure I like these PS4/Vita simultaneous releases. Sure, it's great that the Vita is getting new games, but it doesn't feel like the game ported to Vita, but more like a Vita game facelifted into a PS4 game. On the other hand... maybe it was a Vita game expanded to let PS4 people in on the action?

This is aiming for teens who like these types of arts style and since this is Digimon game, the Digidestineds females have always look like this, even the Anime is also tamed.

Ive already played it due to importing and it is one of the best digimon RPGs yet!

Its been originally a vita game in Japan but made for PS4 in the West so Japan has no PS4 version (like tales of zesteria)

Digimon sucks, Pokemon is always better!

Interested in this game though having watched most of the anime I can't say I'm a fan currently. The new anime that continues from the original picks up rather slow if at all since I'm on episode 5 I believe. Maybe its just weird to me right now cause I've only watched Digimon in English before and now I'm watching it in Japanese. Hasn't drawn me in yet.

Back in the late 90's, this was the norm images that Digimon had and no one didn't think this was inappropriate for teens at the time and besides, Japanese have always done this type of style, Beyblade had similar images as well.

I'd love for this to be as good as the original digimon RPG games on the PS1. I'll be supporting it.

i personally love my RPGs on the big screen and there's always an option between vita or ps4, ps4 will always get to be chosen

Haven't played a Digimon game since Digimon World on ps1 so I'll grab this one.

Pokemon did similar things with Red/Blue/Green/Yellow. Hell, there were several banned episodes of the anime with this content.

I have not played a Digimon game before, thinking of checking this new one out.

Not into rpg's but i loved digimon when i was younger (Played digimon world 1,2,3 and digimon: battle arena on the PSX) so i might pick this up.

I loved Digimon World 1, if it's like that maybe I'll pick it up, if it's like the later games I won't. Damn it, I wanna have to take my Digimon to the toilet every 2 minutes again.

Digimon has ALWAYS had sexualised characters (Angewomon being a big one).

Hell these characters are all alot older than the ones from the Digimon back in the 90s

Nice, Day one PS4! Not sure If I should get for vita later on.

While having it on the vita is nice i for myself see that playing it especially a JRPG on the big screen is far more fun and will surely be also better looking on the ps4 (like sword art online)
