@SolidTy: I'll respond to both the posts here:
As mentioned above (which you have now acknowledged), there was a distinction between the Club Nintendo codes (which net you coins) and Club Nintendo Rewards (which you use coins for). Mind you, none of those two are relevant to the situation at hand, since we are discussing, as mentioned above, Club Nintendo Annual Rewards. This is more akin to me asking a friend to send me some waste or unneeded posters (or soundtrack discs) than asking for Club Nintendo codes, which is what your initial calling out was for, and which, I need to point out yet again, I have never actually done so far.
The second thing that you remember- me asking for codes and thanking someone- is even more interesting. I have never actually before asked anyone for any Nintendo system codes. I have given them away before (which has caused many to thank me here), but I have never actually asked for a code before. The closest situation I can think of- where I asked for a code that was not reciprocated either right before or after by me- was when I was made a gift on Steam during a sale, three years ago, by a user, without me asking for it, just to stress, and I thanked that user in the Lounge.
The third thing, yet again, is that I do not usually go around asking for free codes (and almost never without making some kind of recompense in turn, later if not sooner). This situation is very special- I had already redeemed my Platinum reward, That had in fact been this very game, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. I almost redeemed it to my own account, when I figured my brother has wanted it for a year, and I'm not the game's biggest fan to begin with, so what the hell, I'll just give it to him. Given the circumstances, I felt comfortable enough asking Zass, only if he has no need for his reward (this includes selling it away, incidentally), to send it over to me if he wished to. But again, as you pointed out, the situation has been cleared now, so no harm done, really.
The fourth thing was, it did disturb me a little when a pretty old conversation was brought up, admittedly (and then further cited and linked to). It disturbed me even more when you referred to an incident (I presume you are referring to me thanking my friend in the Lounge for the Steam game), as that is an even older incident, and one that did not even involve you, unlike the other conversation in question. However, I understand some people have a better memory than others, and you have demonstrated an excellent memory before, so maybe that was the reason that you were able to refer to it and cite it (although bringing up the even older conversation is still amusing lol). Which is fair enough, and honestly, I hope I develop better retention skills myself one day, since I have need for them.
As for the Club Nintendo Rewards, I do agree, they were universally disappointing. The quality has been in precipitous decline over the last few years, but this was a low point (especially after the statue that they gave away their first year- probably set too high a standard to be able to follow ever again). Games like these are what Nintendo should be offering monthly over Club Nintendo in a program similar to GwG or PS+. Ah well, baby steps I guess.
