Yep, It's just amazing.

I sure spent lots of hours on that game. personally i do agree on this. havent had fun with an FPS as much as i have with CoD games
I don't know what's worse. The title of this thread or this reply. :( It just makes me a sad panda all around.Modern Warfare 2 would like a word with you

One of the few CoD titles I've enjoyed besides part 2. But I wouldn't t go as far as saying it's the best FPS title.
I'm going to have to concur with whoever said Battlefield 2.
BC2 was a good game, I guess. Rather forgettable in the end and I haven't spent even 1/8 of the time on that game than the time I spent on BF2.
Hope that makes sense. I'm having trouble wording it correctly.
CoD2, DOOM, DOOM 2, Quake, Quake II, Quake III, Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Counter Strike, Crysis, GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2K3, UT2K4, Any Battlefield game, Half-Life, Half-Life 2, etc, etc, etc, are all better games.
CoD4 is mediocre at best. It's a flash in the pan that will remembered for little, if anything.
And considering it did all it could to ruin shooters in general (MW2 did more), it should be forgotten as quickly as possible. Everything it ever did well has been done better.

I hope you're joking. Otherwise I've lost all faith in humanity.
Sorry man, just calling it like I see it
Shorter, lamer, stereotypical single player, an even more broken MP experience... that's fine if you like it but it is in no way better at all.
As to the OP, CoD 4 is great and probably in my top FPSs, but Half-Life 1 & 2, Halo 1, GoldenEye, Doom and probably others I can't think of right now are all better than CoD 4.
BF2 was amazing for it's time. But honestly, camping, snipers, bunny hopping and vehicle whores turned me off of the game. I still had fun with it, but in Bad Company 2 I don't see much of it being done successfully. Sure people camp in Bad Company 2, but it's easy to kill them, where as in BF2 it was much harder considering the levels were just that much larger. And no more bunny hopping; I'm really glad for that.I'm going to have to concur with whoever said Battlefield 2.

lol wut? There is no such thing as the best FPS kids. Being that every one has an opinion and you can't measure greatness of a video game. Myfavorite FPS goes to Half-Life 2

While I agree with you in principle (as in, alot of thosse games are better than CoD 4), one of the best selling games of all time isn't going to be remembered for "little, if anything."

Why? It didn't do anything special. It didn't bring online to consoles, it didn't invent up/down aiming, it didn't even invent a better matchmaking system. Literally everything it ever did has been better. All it has is casual popularity. And that won't last.[QUOTE="BPoole96"]

Honestly who even plays the SP of CoD games? Everyone knows its all about the MP, which IW delivered on every front. More game modes, bigger maps, better graphics, wider variety of guns, better perks, fun kill streaks, more maps (CoD4 only had 1 map pack), cooperative play, etc etc.
MW2 literally TRUMPS CoD4 in every way imaginable, as it does to just about every FPS game.

Who plays the single player? Lots of people. I certainly don't play CoD for its broken ass MP, which is literally broken on every front. Inconsistent guns, overpowered perks, retarded overpowered kill streaks, lame camper-friendly maps (half of the terrible DLC you payed $30 for [LMAO] is in CoD 4 to begin with). I wouldn't call the co op mode in MW2 coop either. It's not played in the campaign.
MW2 was a rush job, and it shows. That's fine if you like McDonald's, but I prefer my burgers on the grill.

The map design is impeccable. There is no spot on any map that can't be flanked so camping isn't an issue at all if you know the maps well. if you don't like objective based game types, you can always just strictly played FFA, TDM, Domination (nobody captures flags anyway) or Mercenary TDM.
How do perks ruin the game? They add a whole new level of depth so you can make a class to your strengths or what your trying to do in a match (stealth, rush, defensive playing, etc)
Its only an air battle if nobody wants to use Stingers. If you sit there and continuously get killed by a chopper gunner its your own fault for not having a cold blooded + stingers class ready to shoot it down.
Nobody is forcing anyone to buy $15 map packs. Personally, the standard maps in the game were good enough, but since MW2 is so good and addicting I've realized I don't have to waste money on other shooters since MW2 is better anyway. Five maps for $15 actually saves me money since its adds more replayability/variety to an already outstanding game and I don't need to spend $60 to buy a new shooter. I could get 20 brand new maps to play on before I would have wasted any additional money buying another FPS.

It's sad that so many games are trying to steal its success because all we're getting is crap clones like MW2 now. Just because it's been done better doesn't mean it's not good.

What's your Steam ID and/or gamertag I want to see some Crysis, L4D, TF2, Counterstrike, etc since you are making such bold claims of MW2 trumping almost every shooter with its bad graphics, bad balance, short campaign, etc. Why? I hope it's forgotten. Then again, Game Informer thought it was one of the best games ever. I guess if you've literally never played a great shooter, Call of Duty is awesome. If you have... it's mediocre. We're not getting clones because it's good. We're getting clones because it sells. Best military FPS shooter yes. Elian2530agreed.
[QUOTE="Aural_Assault"]
Surely if someone thinks the SP in CoD games is lame, than they wouldn't buy them anymore, no? Especially if they don't want to be bothered with the "broken ass MP" (Btw tell that to the millions of people who play it for hours EVERY DAY).
How are guns inconsistent? You shoot someone, they die. Seems consistent to me. Killsteaks can be dealt with via Stinger missiles so they aren't really a probably unless an entire team neglects to take them out. If you know spots where people like to camp you can very well flank them and kill that person, not that difficult. And actually only 40% of the maps are from CoD4 (Math fail FTL).
And you wouldn't call the CO OP MODE in MW2 CO OP? Seems kind of redundant to me. I mean, I am playing with a friend and completing missions against AI. I guess that's not Co op?
And what's this talk about burgers? That analogy doesn't even work unless you got it backwards in saying other FPS games are like McDonald's and MW2 is a juicy tender steak basked in steak sauce with mashed potatoes with gravy and corn on the side.
