Sweet, I have yet to play Diablo 3 and was thinking about getting it on PS3. Definitely will be changing that to PS4 now, especially since you get the new expansion in it.

It apparently includes the base game and the expansion!

And will utilize PS4 touch-pad for stuff.

I waited to buy this on the PS4, this is great news.

I noticed it has more enemies on screen than the current-gen versions do.

I guess the PS4 version is the closest to the PC version, with DS4 support and the console interface, which is way better than the PC version.

I wish the PC version had that Equipment Dial the Console versions have. And the auto-update tooltip that shows you which items are upgrades and which are vendor/salvage crap all at once, rather than having to mouse-over each item.

What tune will be played when games like that start making a jump to consoles too? The key behind free to play is to get into as many hands as possible, considering consoles will be a smart move for GGG.

Actually, most of the big PC changes are being ported over from the console versions since the PC version has been criticized and trashed relentlessly by Diablo fans and gaming critics all over the world.

In the Expansion, they'll use the console loot system, less enemies, better drops, no AHs, etc... all the console ideas that make it a better game. (And more like Path of Exile lol)

Console Diablo III>PC Diablo III. It's rare, but in this case it happened. Even PC gaming magazines state this.

I own multiple copies of this game on my various gaming PCs as I did LAN for D3/Starcraft II sessions...may buy a console PS4 version of D3 if I see it for $30 down the line just for friends that never bought the Blizzard DRM heavy PC original. I have a few friends already bugging me to buy it on console. This may be the compromise I'll make WHEN the price is right.

BTW - PC version will still be online only (no playing during maintenance!).

PS4 version will have online and offline modes, so you can play 24/7/365 with or without battlenet uptime/downtime.

While the always-online requirement made the auction house possible, the auction house was never the driving factor in our decision to make the PC version of Diablo III require an Internet connection. The game was built from the ground up to take full advantage of Battle.net, which provides a number of important benefits, including persistent server-side character saves, a seamless PC multiplayer experience, cheat prevention, and Real ID and BattleTag social features."

I think you just sold me on the PS4 version unless they fix the PC version with a major patch.

Congrats on getting Blizzard's worst game.

It really does. I was kinda worried when I made the switch as I primarily play the Demon Hunter and I found that I actually enjoy it with the controller more.

I'm waiting confirmation on whether it will require PS+ to play online or it it'll be considered on the Free2Play PSN tier.

Also, no info on an Xbox One version. At least not recently:

***The PS4 version, which runs at 60 frames per second and 1080p resolution natively, said senior level designer Matthew Berger, is adding a handful of gameplay additions built around shared experiences for players, even if they're not playing at the same time.

***One of those is player gifts. In the console version, players who get a Legendary item from a loot drop will also get a second bonus item that can be gifted to a friend through the PS4 game's player mail system. Berger explained how that will work.

"I'm going to be running around, killing monsters and a Legendary will drop," he said, "and then — cue awesome sound, column of light — a box, a gift will pop off that Legendary. It's going to say 'Gift for Michael.' I'm going to pick it up and send it to you." That gifted item will be of either Rare or Legendary class and can be used by the player character who opened it.

"Even though you and I are not adventuring together," Berger said, "I can give you something, and still make it feel like we're playing together."

***Avenger Kills offer another opportunity for friends to connect, even if they're not playing cooperatively at the same time. With an Avenger Kill, when a player dies at the hands of a monster, there's a chance that monster will level up and then jump into a special portal. That monster will then target a player on your friends list. Later, when that friend comes online, that monster will appear during a special event; the skies will darken and the player will be warned that "Matthew's Bane" — a special title — is after them. If that monster kills that player, it will level up again, becoming the "Bane" of that player and then find a new friend to target.

If you manage to kill the monster, however, you and the friend who spawned it (or most recently helped level it up) will get a piece of loot.

Just how powerful those Avenger Kill monsters can ultimately become is still something that's under discussion. Become too cruel, too overpowered, and the monster may ultimately "retire," Berger said.

***The PS4 version of Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls will add a few improvements over this year's PlayStation 3 release, including a higher monster density, better graphic shaders, shorter loading times and touchpad support for navigating your inventory. Players who do want to upgrade to the next-gen version will be able to import their characters from the PS3 version, but exactly how is unknown.

Berger said the team has looked at PlayStation Vita Remote Play for the PS4 version, but expressed concern about the reduced resolution of the handheld.

"It's on our radar," he said.

@Netherscourge: Oh HELL YEAH!!! I have been waiting for this announcement!!! I own the PC version but I want to play on my console and PS4 controller. Sacred 2 was a blast on PS3 and as was dark alliance and champions of norath on the PS2. I played the original Diablo 1 on PS1 back in the day. These games feel good on console.

Oh and will be able to play anywhere wihere wifi is avaialbe on my vita... D3 on vita too because its a non motion ps4 game!! Hell yeah!

Same. I own the original Classic Diablo on PC and the PSOne version. Loved that build in split screen PSOne co op back then with the lady/family/friends. I loved Baldur's Gate; DA1/2, and of course Sony's Champions of Norrath 1/2. Definitely agreed.

While I have multiple copies of D3 for LAN, I'm looking forward to a non DRM, co op console version and the PS4 version w/Vita connectivity seems to be the version to get for to play with my non PC friends.

Except this can be played offline properly, like real games and does not have crap like auction house that destroys looting and gameplay for everyone

The PC version will be fixed (to a more acceptable standard) when RoS launches. So it'll remain the superior version, mouse and keyboard > gamepad all day every day.

This may be the 1st game i get for Ps4, yes i know i can play on PC but i liked the relaxed/direct control on Ps3. Diablo plays best with gamepad :P

Mouse + KB destroy any kind of immersion for me, even worse than sitting on a desk while playing a game

If i can avoid it, will always do so (for both)

@Snugenz: in this game though, it feels like diablo 3 was created for the gamepad. Game feels much more fluid on the game pad than keyboard and mouse. I've played both versions on the PC and ps3 and it feels much better on the ps3.
