What is your Opinion on the Best Gameplay Ending ever?
In this I mean a last fight with the big boss or a last big action gameplay sequence etc... Not cutscenes here just a the last fight or gameplay in a game.
For me it has to be Halo: Combat Evolved. I played it in co-op and having to race through that long drive of enemies which trying to beat the clock before everything explodes with the music going on and all hell breaking loose has got to be one of the best gameplay endings ever.
metroid prime. Getting to the core of the final boss, stepping into a phazon puddle and unleashing the phazon beam for the first time. You do that 4 or 5 times in the boss fight and the feeling of hitting the boss is brilliant, true power. Plus the boss is really hard, throwing metroids at you all the time so the feeling of satisfaction is great.
The second disc on Resident Evil 2, Because I thought the final boss battle was over and put the controller down to watch the second ending and that thing came back for another round. Â
1.) Life Force : After fighting the big bad boss, you have to rush out of the exploding space fortress with the gates closing in on you like crazy. At least when I was like 8 years old, the first time I beat this game without the Konami Code I was stoked.
2.) Any of the endings to Metal Gear (regular and solid). Those are truly epic battles. Snake vs. Grey Fox on a field of mines? Big Boss vs. The Boss in a field of flowers ... with an incoming missile strike to worry about. Liquid and Solid in a high speed Jeep Chase after duking it out man to man on top of a Metal Gear? Is it just me or does Konami know how to make endings to games?

Agreed. Nothing really comes close to this for me. It was the most memorable last battle and ending to a video game ive ever seen.
Too bad the original Metal Gear games weren't redone in full 3d high def. Like I said they were all great, but the ending, not the battle, the ending sequence itself really is what made that battle so significant and poignant.

oh man i fell of the warthog. and told my buddy just keep going ill catch up, mad funny. hes like miles away and im running and shooting. but then he dies and gets respawned next to me and we get to a hill that we need the warthog for. of topic but that just made it more legendary, so yeah that was pretty epic, runner up metal gear solid one, when ur going through that whole thing with liquid, metal gear rex, he kills gray fox, then one on one, then the car chase just epic, still my favorite story, still my favorite metal gear game, and until 4 proves otherwise still the best metal gear solid ever. period

O YE! that was amazing, thats probably slightly ahead of metal gear solid 3 gameplay ending, but mgs3s overall story ending is better i think.
Agreed entirely. The only thing storywise that people remember from MGS3 is the story in the end (Groznyj Grad and on)
