Not a console game..but I love sniping in UT2004.
With how fast paced the game is, and how difficult headshots are to pull off (this is probably THE hardest game to get a headshot in,) it's extremely satisfying to work your way up the skill ladder and become a good sniper (well, it goes hand in hand with becoming a good player in general - seeing as how hitscan dominant the game is.)
There's nothing like getting two kills in one shot with the Lightning Gun. Or knowing exactly where your opponent's skull is going to be along a jump pad path, and headshotting them in mid-air. Or being able to headshot players out of mantas and scorpions consistently, over and over.
Too bad the LG is going to be out in UT3.

Eh..there's a few major design differences (mainly with reguards to movement and weaponry,) and I wasn't a fan of UC or UT2003 for that matter.
UT2004 is what UC/UT2003 should have been.
Gears of War gives the most satisfying sniping. You get to see your enemy's head shattered and the geyser of blood.AdobeArtist
UT2004 is pretty satisfying too, at least with the Lightning Gun. The area where your opponent's skull used to be catches on fire, and your opponent lies twitching (from electrical current) on the ground until they respawn :P
That sniper game in the arcade, something scope. It hase the full on sniper and you use that to snipe people. NOTHING can compare to that:Ddumfart66
That would be Silent Scope and Dark Silhouette: Silent Scope 2 :P
Fun games.
Edit: There might be one other arcade version too.

Yea, amazing as an arcade game. Always ran out of loonies tho:(Â
I think on a pc ut2004 on plunge with instagib shock rifles is pretty awsome too, its so much hard to jump and run when its low gravity.basically 32 sitting ducks...with guns.marklarmer
Haha yeah, that's one of the reasons I hate low gravity..too hard to move around and dodge shots effectively :P - Simply dropping down from a ledge, or jumping up to a platform with opponents in the area (especially in iG) means instant death.

and wouldn't ya know it, BOTH games are from Epic.
Epic = KING of sniping/enemy elimination :DÂ

Truth.Â

Agreed - but the bullet lag (off host) makes sniping a chore. Unless the enemy is standing still, they are almost impossible to hit.
My fav for sniping is GRAW/GRAW2. No need to "steady your aim" like in most games. See it - shoot it - kill it. Sweeet.

Actually, with GRAW, you DO have to hold your breath to steady your aim when in scope mode. Ubisoft uses this mechanic in most of their games including Splinter Cell. Halo 2 on the other hand has that aim and click ease of sniping.Â
I would say the Springfield '03 rifle in Brothers in Arms. The level in the church tower laid out fantastic grounds for a Nazi turkey shoot. The realistic recoil of the gun and the meaty sound was nigh on perfection as far as historical accuracy is concerned, and the sights were a solid balance between accuracy and gun sway. I think that's probably one of my favourite levels in a first person shooter game.

Nope - not in multiplayer. Yes, in the single player you have to "steady your aim", but not in the multi. I should have clarified.

That sounds cool, specially the nazi turkey shoot.

You should pick the game up if you haven't played it already. It's probably the most accurate rendition of WW2 in a game to date and has a deep strategic element to it.
Â
ÂThat'd be true if the weapons actually hit what you're aiming at, the only realistic thing I see in it is the levels.
MGS3, The End, 'nuff saidMronoC
Probably the most unique sniping sequence too, and sniping's handled well in the whole game. Â Â
what about Americas Army? nobody played it? it was really satisfying to snipe in it.
also as someone said here before, CS, dust2, scout, nothing comes closer
