Who did you feel wassn't there for any particular reason in Metal Gear Solid 2?

I only own GTA IV so I cannot decide. I bet if I had MGS4, I would pick it.

But both of these games are overrated IMO.

For the past 40 years of gaming in my live, i had 2 say MGS4 is the Greatest Game i ever played.

If one followed the MGS franchise then MGS4 might very well be the best game ever made. If not, it is an amazing experience with a great, yet understandably confusing, plot.

GTA4 is a great game as well, though too much on the casual side for my tastes.

Actually for most long term fans that know the story inside out, MGS4 was pretty weak. Story wise its easily the worst in the series....even worse than MGS:PO, which is very sad. The story ruined existing characters, retconned major plot points, collapsed the once large MGS universe with over-connectivity, and rather than giving us an incredibly engaging story as the previous titles did, it came off as a lame fan service cameo fest. Hell they basically tried to explain everything with nanomachines and even then they didn't explain a lot of the deeper underlying aspects of the story. Its a damn shame how well the previous titles set the story up for an amazing finale that fell flat on its face.

Even so, MGS4 > other great titles this year >>>>>> GTAIV.

Was it good for an MGS game? Not really. Was it a good video game? Yes, it was amazing.

I have spent more time ONLINE With GTA4 than MGS4.

GTA4 although a step back from GTA:SA in many ways, was a great experience.

Wrong, MGS4 CREATED new MGS fans. My Brother and a couple of my buds are now MGS fans due to MGS4. They hated the others, but are now giving them a second look due to MGS4.

You can prefer GTA4 over MGS4, but saying it's only for one group is wrong. I don't even think you own a PS3 or MGS4. Playing MGS4 is quite different from OWNING A PS3 and A COPY OF MGS4 and beating it.

Also, remember GTA4 had less options that GTA:San Andreas, whereas MGS4 was a step up gameplay wise for MGS1-3 in every concievable way.

Both are overhyped here. None deserve a 10. Thats why GS is giving lower scores than usual now. They are ashamed that they gave these games perfect scoreskrp008

Im really getting tired of this misconception.

MGS4 was ok for the regular fans that played each instalment once, or twice. It absolutely spit in the face of the hardcore MGS fans. People who never played an MGS game absolutely loved it because they couldn't see how flawed the story was, nor could they see how the game lacked the depth of the previous titles.

The reviewers and gamers have spoken. GTA IV has received better reviews across the board, and GTA IV has received the better sales. The MGS fanbase is a lot more smaller and very niche. And those fans are usually pretty loyal.BioShockOwnz
