I've had my fill of any and all games with the word "Mario" and "Zelda" in the title. If that's supposed to continue to draw me in until the end of time, then they need a new marketing director. I want something new, fresh and exciting. Rehashing the same old shit just isn't going to fly.

Well, it's a good thing the words "Mario" or "Zelda" are not in the title. Guess it's a day one purchase for you.

I guess I was too literal for the likes of you. Let me rephrase it for the simpletons: anything that has already been done to death. Clear enough?

Considering Smash Bros has only had 4 games since 1999 and other games like Gears of War, Uncharted, Halo, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Souls series, etc have had numerous sequels/remakes since 2003, I would say Smash Bros is more than welcome and isn't hurting the launch of being a "re-hash".

He's an idiot bro. Don't waste your time feeding the trolls.

@charizard1605: Did you hear that Steve Okimoto, NoA's Senior Manager of Developer Relations, is leaving the company?

http://gonintendo.com/stories/250905-nintendo-america-s-senior-manager-of-developer-relations-is-leav

It's certainly an interesting time for him to leave, right when Nintendo is about to release a system that needs 3rd party support more than ever. Makes you wonder if Nintendo has "requested" that he step down, when you consider how poor there relationship with 3rd parties has been.

It is possible that that is indeed what has happened- Nintendo need third parties on board, and while Japan seems to have bought into whatever Nintendo is peddling, the west is still a big question mark. Getting a new guy to handle western relations for them might be a good first step towards alleviating that problem.

Great! A strong 3rd Party!

Smash Bros 4

Oh shit, more of the same. We don't need another sequel.

I find it amazing that the concept of 'one of the games' is lost on you all.

The key words here are 'one of the.' They imply that Smash is one of the, but not only, games coming to the NX from Namco. In fact, the same link very specifically says ''developing several NX games.' Several, as in more than one. As in there is more to their support than just Smash.

I also find it amazing that a new entry in a series that has had four games in 17 years is 'more of the same.' Meanwhile, Uncharted 4 or Gears of War 4 are grounds for celebration. Or that if these third parties had announced their support for the NX, which mostly comprises of sequels, that would be fine, but Nintendo doing a sequel is suddenly the end of the world.

The double standards continue to amaze me.

Diversification is key. We can celebrate another entry in a strong series only if we have been able to cleanse our palate on something new, fresh, and exciting.

Steak is delicious. But if you eat steak for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day for years it's not going to matter how perfectly succulent the steak is you are still going to end up resenting it and wishing you had something else.

You guys are going to coddle Nintendo all the way to the grave.

@skektek: Difference is look a Zelda. That series has 16 games (not counting ports/remakes/re-releases) across 10 consoles. Uncharted has 4 across 2, and Gears has 4 on just 1 (also not counting ports/remakes/re-releases just to be fair). With the upcoming releases Zelda will go up to 17 across 10/11, while Uncharted goes to 5 across 3 and Gears 5 across 2. If the trend was to keep up these guys would be in the 30's/40's by the time they see their 10th consoles.

I had a feeling with Nintendo ditching handheld they'd be flushed with third party support. Doubly so if it's a hybrid device. Figured maybe Sony realized this too late hence rumors of potential new handheld build. On thing I felt Vita helped Sony with was attracting Japanese devs via handheld apeal, as well as cross platform development. Nintendo can totally steal that with a hybrid device.

Wii-U piss taking aside, I do hope Nintendo succeeds this time just to get Microsoft out of it. Sony needs some competition.

I didnt think of that, that makes sense since you might can bring your game over, but not your saves, dlc, and digital games over. Would work perfect if they are starting a new cool program with their digital games. Im hoping we can cross play single copies or own them for life under the new policy.

Fucking Knew it.

Smash Bros for NX.

It'll be GOTY edition of the current WiiU Smash with all the DLC in it for $60, but with better Netcode.

Bandai Namco only publishes it in the west (From publishes it themselves in Japan). They don't own the IP, and they have no say in where the game goes. All they do is distribute it in the west.

I'm still pretty surprised From Software wanted nothing to do with the WiiU considering the Soap Stones would have worked WONDERS on Miiverse.

Hell that game is just screaming to take advantage of Miiverse.

Know what would be cool

Smash 4 port to NX that includes all content from both the 3DS and Wii U versions as well as all DLC. On top of that there's also extra content: a few extra characters, stages, music, modes (both offline and online), and maybe even a story mode or adventure mode of some sort.

Also make classic mode more like the 3DS version and not the Wii U's BS version. And don't have BS challenges or event modes like the Wii U version did.

Overly hopeful I know, but a man can dream.

Why would Nintendo let some outside company develop Smash Bros? This doesn't seem very Nintendo like.

They did? Interesting. So most likely this might be a Definitvie Edition of the Wii U game?

Would it be too early for a new Super Smash Bros. game on the NX? The last ones for the Wii U and 3DS were released in late 2014.

So how many publishers have said "were on board this time". Namco released like 2 games on wiiu to my knowledge... tank tank tanl, tekken tag 2.

Is the mighty Platinum Games on board? This is what matters most.
