" It out performs the Steam Deck in virtual every way. "

  • Display: 7-inch IPS touchscreen
  • Resolution: 1920x1200
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 6800U (8-core/16-thread)
  • CPU Speed: 2.7GHz base clock, 4.7GHz boost clock
  • GPU: Integrated AMD Radeon RDNA 2
  • Memory: LPDDR5-6400
  • Storage: 1TB NVMe
  • Battery: 50.25 Whr
  • Connectivity: WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2
  • I/O: x2 USB Type-C (top), x1 USB Type-C(bottom), audio combo jack, MicroSD expansion
  • Security: Fingerprint Scanner
  • Dimensions (LxWxD): 10.4 x 4.2 x 0.9 inches

" The triggers and joysticks are some of the best you’ll find on any handheld. They use Hall Effect sensors to track their movement using magnetic fields. This, in theory, should make issues like joystick drift impossible, and in practice are some of the smoothest sticks I’ve used on a portable. "

" Unlike the Steam Deck, the Ayaneo 2 runs Windows like any other gaming PC. It’s not a mobile version either. This is Windows 11 Home Edition, designed around mouse and keyboard, not gamepad interaction. Those custom keys allow you to call up an onscreen keyboard and perform quick actions like showing the desktop, pressing Escape, or showing the mouse cursor. "

Love they went with a bezel-less design like the Switch OLED and unlike the dated Steam Deck that features that big ugly bezel around its screen.

Dang, Steam Deck got that arse whooped!

That's great! I'd love to see the pc based handheld market grow and dominate! It's so perfect for my lifestyle. Like peas and carrots baby. Ayaneo can beta test for the next steam deck. Perfect!

Also, it's 700 dollars more expensive as Steam Deck so shop intelligently!

@TheEroica: They have a cheaper one you can get. But also this is a fully fledged PC running Windows 11, Steam Deck isnt.

@mesome713: Base is $400 USD.

In other news, this is interesting. I'm more interested for the implications to the next gen Nintendo console. These specs are pretty impressive.

Great! Hopefully people buy it. It's all gravy for steam deck. More legitimacy in the concept. I'm gonna stay with my deck for now. It's a wondermachine! Ayaneo is great too, though not in my price range for wanting to invest.

Good stuff. Looks great. A nice bump up from the steam deck in terms of performance and, overall, looks like a great package.

Pricey though: 950 quid for the base model based on my quick look up. Maybe they should have gone with Steam OS and gotten the price down a bit. Could be an option in the future maybe (or just dont ship it with an OS and let the user sort it out as an option maybe).

On a side note: Hopefully MS decide to either dust off the old Windows 8 user interface and get it up to speed so it works well on mobile devices OR (better yet) just port the Xbox interface to windows too. Navigating windows with a touch screen is a pain. Especially when it's a pretty small screen.

Though the Steam Deck UI is basically available now on the windows version of Steam too so that would work.

It's proof of concept I'm most excited about. Switch was something I wanted for a looooong time and poof there it was, in my hands. It's also a wondermachine to me. If we have Nintendo, Valve and other companies positioning their businesses around this style of gaming we are winning. Valve will definitely have an A2 floating around their office to learn from it. I'm sure!

It's most promising to see the performance upgrade happen in such a small form factor. Gives me great hope for the future.

Microsoft Could work together for a Xbox Surface Neo 🤔

That's a good idea for the Windows App Store and Xbox ecosystem. With the Series S it becomes easier to get a portable specification.

I was just looking at it today. I'm going solo to Japan in a couple months, so it would be cool to have when travelling and in bed.

Looks awesome! I am so happy that it runs Windows instead of Linux. That’s the one that gets me irritated with Valve, not having a pre-installed Windows option for the Steam Deck.

I am currently saving up money for a new Windows based gaming handheld, this device might be the one I might up getting.

@thatforumuser: I would do anything for an Xbox Surface Neo! Microsoft needs to jump onto the handheld PC gaming bandwagon before these Linux-based handhelds gain market share. Microsoft should be all-in on this new market segment. What’s taking them so long to enter it?

Not sure which of the two I want to get... half of one and and all that. Anyone care to make a concise rundown of pros and cons of each the max models?

A non-product.

If it was closer to Steam Deck pricing I might consider it.

I'm not paying $1K (base) for a handheld, I'd rather just use my Razer Kishi and XCloud for $50

Can I install Linux on this?

Edit: And while I am at it, what is the known durability of this?

@Maroxad: Not sure on durability, im not familiar with the company who makes these. But people have been booting OS's through external harddrives to test Steam OS out on it, so im sure you can install anything you want on it.

Ahh cool. I have been mostly into Linux lately, especially for handheld systems. A UNIX based system is so much handier for someone like me than Windows.

That said, I looked up it online, and sadly it is unavailable here in Sweden. :(

Well either their xbox department don’t know the meaning of ”success” or MS have a REALLY low bar for the success of the xbox.
