Game is fun as hell. 3 or 4 solo is too hectic and hard to control.

2v2 on the hand is amazing. Volleyball is trash but the fighting mechanics during actual matches is solid.

Can wait to see pros play this.

Edit: Maybe it helps that I'm pretty much Conan right now

I had fun with it. 1 v. 1 is where it shines, but the 2 v. 2 matches were fun and the volleyball thing was fine as a nice breakup from the action -- if a little basic and clunky.

Good impression, overall. My Switch was really getting a workout while playing, though. Kind of hot to the touch after I put my Joy-Cons back.

Game was super frustrating. I beat opponent up. Opponent gets special. I lose. Rinse and repeat. No idea how to get that special at all. I read the tips and it said to jump and rush a lot. So I did. I still managed to get 1 special in around 15 games or so.

Motion controls were frustrating. No doubt my fault but blocking resulted in me just punching. The pro controller was much better for me.

Volleyball sucks lol 2 v 2 sucks. My team mate kept lagging out so 2 on 1.

The 3 way fights are pretty dumb. Definitely doesn't work as well as they do on Smash.

I was hyped for the game but now I'm not sure I'll get it. Probably will wait for Splatoon 2 for my next Switch purchase.

ouch... everything that could go wrong went wrong.

i had no lag outs... i used motion controls and had almost no issue occasionally like you said block resulted in a punch. but overall i found it responsive.

2vs2 was great for me. but yea..3vs3...what the hell is that? lol like you cant choose who you want to punch.

I loved it. My son and I joined up together and we had zero online issues. The volleyball matches weren't the greatest but the fighting was awesome. We both used motion controls and had very very minor issues like guarding turning into a punch

@KBFloYd: I didn't lag out either. My team mate kept lagging out. Then I was getting lit up 2 on 1.

With the pro controller you can change selected enemy with the right analog stick (i think it was). With the joy cons you just push A, B, X or Y. Either way 3 player mode just didn't really work on this game. Especially with the maps that they have. Somebody just ends up between 2 players and has no chance to do anything.

i only played with pro controller how does this thing even work with joycons?

anyway it is really fun i wasn't interested but i really liked the party mode with the volleyballs and the 2v2 3v3 got super chaotic though

Thought the game was just alright. I played with the joy conz and had a hard time controlling/moving around. Could just be i need to get more used to it, but i found it odd holding the controllers upward, but yet needing to push buttons facing inward. I'll need to try it with the pro controller. After initial play through reminded me very much of a Wii Game. Not a must buy day 1 for me. May pick it up at some point if the digital version drops in price.

Ain't gonna bother net is too slow for these kind of short sessions where lots of people are trying to get through...same like Splatoon test.

yep it's Nintendo's crappy Weekend only "Test Fire" betas.

Though I find it way better then Splatoon.

That's not a hard thing to do lol. But the character design in Arms is actually interesting. It actually reminds me of Overwatch. Splatoon is just cringe. I don't get the appeal at all.

Won't bother. Game looks cool, but Nintendo's way of having people test it, is stupid.

I heard their reason was to get as many people as possible to play at the same time for stress testing.

This game is super rage inducing. I have no idea if I have lag or some s@@t. It's like everything I do I get hit and can't avoid attacks at all. Even with Ninjara disappearing, or blocking my health goes down. If I do dodge stuff some how my strikes on an opponent who has committed themselves misses. It's just a huge WTF from me.

That sounds like some terrible connection problem. For me (in EU) everything has been spot on. Zero noticeable delay.

I do wonder how you can deal with specials? Is your best hope to dodge them in time or grab right before they do it? Ah I guess you can block them kinda.
edit: nvm I see you can block them if you are fast enough.

Ok so the fighting modes are very fun and I can see that there is a huge skill level difference already. I completely decimate some people and others have dominated me. The game allows for cool comebacks. I already had a match in which I was pretty much done for and somehow managed to punch through the latter half of his health bar without getting hit.

The 1 on 1 on 1 (on 1) are fun too. You can have real stand offs and have to play a little more smartly to win those. 2 on 2 works much better than I expected.

Volleyball though.. Not really big on that. It feels kinda weird cause the ball is usually pretty high up and it's not like you are really smashing the ball in a direction. Not my cup of tea.

My only concern with this game is how long I would actually stick with it and play it if I buy it... But seriously the fighting itself is excellent. If it's as cool as I think it is when you get good at it, and with it looking as good for spectators as it does, I can see this get big.

I enjoyed it a lot more then I thought I would. I enjoyed all of the fighting modes as well as the volley ball. I went from being on the fence about picking it up to ready to purchase on day 1. Worth noting, so far I've spent my entire time with the game playing in portable mode.

The Game is surprisingly not terrible with the Pro Controller. The game would tell you to press B and A, but really you just need ZL and ZR for your Punches.

One gripe that might get you is that blocking is the Left Thumbstick pressed down, but I got used to that real quick.

Ugh, I thought this game looked stupid and put it in my "pass" category. After 2 test punch sessions I'm sold. This is way more fun than I thought it would be.

I was pretty hyped for this game until I just played it for about an hour. I'm pretty dang disappointed. It just feels too unresponsive and shallow to have any legs. I was all amped up to get this game day one, but now I think I'll just stick with Street Fighter V and Injustuce 2. They both employ similar strategies and concepts only there is far more depth in the latter two.

Ultimately I just wish the game felt better. It's very slow and you spend most your time waiting for an arm to come back. I dunno, I might test it again later.

How does the pro controller work for curving your fists? With the joy cons, if you tilt them at any point of the trajectory, you can change its path.

I'm not a big fighting game fan but I loved this, I could feel the strategies straight away, the game is deeper than I thought it would be, especially with stage layouts.

I really enjoyed my short time with the game, motion controls are great, only issue was punching instead of blocking, which could lead to a loss.

You only tilt them inwards. Like, you don't have to move your arms to block, and that will prevent an accidental punch. I saw a lot of people cross their arms or such, and that can be registered as a punch cause you end up moving your arm forward.

So I managed to play again for a small amount, but this time I used the pro controller. It's clearly the superior way to play. The game's a lot more fun with more consistent curve punches. I could never get the curve punches to work accurately with the motion controls.

Oh awesome, thanks, yeah I guess I was moving them far too much and throwing a punch. I'll have to try the proper method if I can get on for another test fire, or when the game comes out, I'm sold on it, day 1.

Really fun game. The motion controls are broken, so that was a huge dissapointment, but with a controller you could play accurately, which made it really fun. I'm glad I noticed that and just didn't continue with the broken motion controls. If it takes 3 tries for the game to recognize you want to block, I'm not even gonna bother.

Volley ball needs to be removed or improved, or I'll just go "ugh" everytime they force me to play it.

1v1 is where the game shines, 2v2 was also fun, 3 player free for all was a bit weird and unbalanced. I liked all characters that I tried and they were different in good ways.

Sounds good from all the feedback. Seems we have a good foundation game on our hands. Will be fun to see where this new title can take us and how it can stand along the excellence of Super Smash.
