I had 3 ps2's die , and after 2 years i had my first 360 die a few days back.

the difference is, most of the 360's that die will get fixed for free for 3 years.

360

I am still in disbelief that no government has done something about it. They have literally skrewed the consumer over. I hope my 360 doies not go again since i got mine at launch and so my warranty is nearly out. The 360 is a great systam and has some ggood games but its incredibly annoying.

PS2....went through 4 of them before I said screw it to Sony and their customer supportless POS. My 360 may have died on me 3 times (almost the same time frame for my 4 PS2's mind you) and I've yet to spend an additional dime on having it repaired. Sony on the other hand wouldn't do squat for me even though one of them died only one week AFTER the 3 month warranty was up.

Funny thing is, is that even though their customer service sucks balls, I'm considering a PS3 now seeing how there are FINALLY great games coming out for it. :|

Right now I would say that the 360 is in a close 2nd to the PS2. Those things just broke like mad.

don't forget that once you have one fixed, the 3 year warranty starts over for that repaired 360. :)

Playstation 2. I had two die on me due to the "disc read error". In comparison, I've had minimal problems with Xbox360 and I've seen Microsoft hold themselves far more accountable than Sony did in regards to their mistakes. People tend to forget that rather easily I think.

To be honest that's pretty irrelevant. I've had my 360 RROD twice now and it's getting annoying.

the ps 2 was reliable more than anyone gives credit for. every ps 2 that has went on someone it could have been fixed within 10 mins. all you had to do was clean the lens track then the ps 2 would have worked like new.

the 360 not so easy they die completely.

the ps 2 is alot relable than people relize there systems does not fail it just needs to be cleaned. so if anyone out there have there old ps 2's look on-line to find how to clean the ps 2. then i bet every ps 2 you have wether it is 4 of them ect. they have 4 working ps 2 to trde in for games.

New account for this? Anyway, I'd have to agree that the answer to most unreliable ever has GOT to be the 360.

This is anecdotal, but I had three, count them, THREE PS2s go DRE on me and I had to pay for every farking one of them. I've had one RROD occur, and I was back playing Fallout 3 within four days of sending it in, and I didn't have to pay a cent.

PS2 hands down. Worst part about their DRE problems were that it was all over the place and (unlike MS) they just denied it the entire time. If Sony had admitted to the fault like MS did there would not have been the backlash that there was.

funny how many people mention the ps2. mine were incredibly sturdy. i even had one fall off my tv (about 3 or 4 feet) that messed it up but i popped it open and fixed it right up, it was pretty obvious what was out of whack. other than that i've had no issues at all with my ps2's. i've owned 4, i had to sell one for money, 2 were stolen from me (i live in the ghetto) and the 4th one im on now is working pretty good and its still the old fat ps2 from god knows how long ago.

It is relevent,

what would you rather

3 ps2's die and have to pay each time

or 3 360's die, but get them back within a week and fixed for free.

Looking back at it , sony treated ps2 owners like crap

I don't think this was related to the DRE problem with the PS2? If it was, then I'm sure Sony would have had me try that troubleshooting step on both of the times I called in regarding my out of warranty PS2, which they offered to fix for free but I had to pay for shipping. At least MS takes care of the shipping costs. I don't care what anyone says, accountability is a huge part of this issue. Granted it did take a while for MS to step up but when they did, they did far more than Sony ever did or would do.

i've only ever had a console break once, and that was the 360. I was one of the first to get the rrod, and they wanted to charge me, but i argued it out, and got it for free. I think i started the whole free 360 replacement program, and therefore improved xbox 360 owners quality of life.

My current 360 doesn't look like it's going to break anytime soon, and runs flawlessly.

dre = cleaning the lens track off. try it if you still have a dead ps 2 around. you take the top off then the top off of the dvd drive clean the track then the dre is fixed. of course sony not going to tell you to take the ps 2 apart.

For me it was the PS2, strangley my 360 RROD'd but carried on working...

I went through 3 PS2's. My phat one broke, my first slim broke within a week, and then I had another slim which carried on working till I sold it. Now I have my brothers phat one now and it is still working somehow.

Numbers wise I am pretty sure the 360 is the most unreliable console, and most unreliable peice of consumer electronics ever made.

I bought my PS2 in 2001. 7 years and still working.

most reliable console is the Original GameBoy, I bought my GameBoy in 1990, 18 years, and it is still working. its been thrown off the balcony, rolled down the stairs 100 times, and it is still working.

The ps2's problem was dirt, or a very strange voltage issue( But mostly dirt ). Sony should have advised people better, given people tips on fixing it (I took mine apart, but canned air should work). The 360 is just badly built, not just rrod, the disc scratching is something which should never happen, most dvd player come with protection for it....

I think it beats Ps1, already has more diversity...SNES is the best 2D console of all time..it's very hard to compere it to 3Dgen, you have to put it into another catagory. PS2..nah it's not at that level. But it's up there as in top2-3.

The 360, it's downright criminal how the RROD problem has grown. I've had 3 RROD's in the space of 10 months. It's the only console that's ever broken on me. It's not like MS had a choice with the 3 year warranty either.

I had 2 PS2's kick the bucket only a year and a half after launch, and some of my friends have had more. My 360 is working great and everyone I know (except 1 person) is still on their first Xbox 360. I personally have seen little evidence to prove that the 360 is as bad as people say. In my opinion, the PS2 is the most unreliable console ever.

I feel bad for anyone that payed to have Sony repair their PS2. I don't know if this only applied in America or something, but I had DRE 4 or 5 times and every time I called up Sony in CA and **** until they offered to repair it for free. I did have to pay for shipping, but it was only about 10$ if I remember correctly. At least MS pays for that.

Yes. But its hilarious that even with RROD 360 is still #2.

Ouch for PS3......being not as preferred as a unreliable console.

i would say so. the main reasons why its acceptable to most owners is because the 360 has a fantastic games library and its relatively cheap with a long warranty.

Thing is I play my consoles forever, I still have my 20 year old NES hooked up. I would just be sad if I wanted to play Bioshock on a 360 five years from now and it wont work. bad console is bad.

Yes, the RROD is the worst ever... THe PS2 was bad also, but very easy to fix and i mean VERY easy, to fix... Just open the top and open the dvd case, clean the lenses and BAM fixed.. I feel bad for anyone who had to pay to repair it or bought a new one

I bought my PS2 in 2001. 7 years and still working.

most reliable console is the Original GameBoy, I bought my GameBoy in 1990, 18 years, and it is still working. its been thrown off the balcony, rolled down the stairs 100 times, and it is still working.

I'd say yeah, pretty easily. 360 followed by the PS2 followed by the NES.

It seemed like every NES I've ever seen evetually got the blinking screen (the reason everyone blew into their carts before putting em in,) but luckily it was a really easy fix. The 72 pin connector in the NEs could be swapped easily.
