so now that Barebones pro was released and you can play without killstreaks, do you like MW2 now?
sorry if this was posted already.

Due to much hassle from my friends, today I folded and re-purchased MW2 used for more then i bought it brand new on release ...
I can't say i'm pleased, it's still a poor game, except now Activision want me to buy map packs for 1200 points. That's just ****ing ridiculous. 1200 points for one map pack? No thank you sir, i'd rather contract aids.
[QUOTE="clyde46"]How is it mediocore? I mean the level design and gameplay are perfect.Still high price, still mediocore.

Yeah.I love being able to dual wield sawn of shotguns and accurately shoot someone on the other side of the map to death ...
I also love how my crosshairs seem to glue themselves to anything that passes by.
I also love how my breathing and stance have almost no effect on my ability to snipe someone so far off he may aswell be on a different map.
Gamplay perfection.
The level design is so perfect that they had to recycle old maps ... Perfection indeed.
it was boring with killstreaks, it'd be just as boring without them.
Shadowrun>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>COD all day.:)

You are awesome for mentioning Shadowrun. I have loved that game since launch. :]

that game is amazing, no doubt. I only play the MP demo(for the past two months), and I've enjoyed it more than full games.
getting the full game sometime this week, once I activate my debit card:)

From what I heard, Commando, Danger Close, Last Stand and noob tubes are overpowered.
still an unbalanced shooter that caters to the unskilled, but barebones pro is a step in the right direction

Wow, I've never heard such stupid complaints. The individual level design is still perfect ever if they used old maps. And so what if they did that those maps are still great. btw I call BS on ur shotgun complaint, and I cant believe your complaining about a minor aim assist. Your simply just one of those players that blame the game when they lack the skill to actually win anything. Minor assist?! I could pull the left trigger and I'd pretty much be in line for a headshot. Minor assist my ass.[QUOTE="-Snooze-"][QUOTE="Lable1985"] How is it mediocore? People need to realize just because you enjoy a game doesn't make it balanced especially with grenade launchers, death streaks (LOL), and perks like bling one man army etc.edit: In addition it's not a minor aim assist, its pretty noticeable that your controller reticle moves that much into the direction of the player,.

As if that statement couldn't be more wrong. My God, level design is some of the worst I've seen. Let's fight in narrow corridors where the only thing I can do is get sprayed to death and noob-tubed as soon as I spawn! And the gameplay is perfect?!?! How can you possibly say that? Killstreaks are the most unbalanced things ever. Once I get four kills in a row I can pretty much win the game if I get a decent killstreak reward from that care package. Perks are also designed horribly - oh yes, let's make a perk called Stopping Power that EVERYONE will use so that NOBODY will be able to use Cold-Blooded. That way everyone can get killed by killstreaks as much as possible!!! Did I also mention how that for some reason a stab from a knife is more effective in close-quarters combat than a shotgun blast to the face? MW2 is far and away one of the most unbalanced games of all time. All one needs to do is playBattlefield: Bad Company 2 to see that.

This game takes no skill. I have a positive K/D and I run around like a headless chicken spraying bullets until i get a chopper. It's really not hard ...

Every perk is just as impowering as those ones are. Besides last Stand rarely works, and any amount of skill can cancel out Danger close, and commando. As for noob tubing, that is prolly the one thing I really hate about the game.campaign was abysmal , and multiplayer is far from balanced.I still don't understand the hate for this game. It's a good game with an epic campaign

exactly. but the discussion is over MP:P
the game is as shallow as they come in terms of a learning curve. it's unbalanced and it provides no real challenge.
the game has seamless controls and a great campaign. the only things I'd say that are going for it.

What?? Those aren't unbalancing you say? Danger Close, Commando, Noob Tube, and the (most god awful thing ever put in videogames) Heartbeat Sensor say hi.
i already sold it off at the beginning of this year
don't really plan on re-buying, i think i'd rather put my money behind Halo: Reach
even Black Ops looks more promising

not to mention barebones implies having the barebones of an FPS. the barebones of call of duty or any military shooter is your gun, your grenades and you melee attack.I've actually never had a problem with the killsteaks, but some of the perks are so terribly balanced they could be considered design oversights. From the combination of an RPG + Danger Close + Scavenger to Akimbo Rangers +Sleight of Hand to the mere existence of lightweight and commando (which together, are 2 horrible perks in one terrifyingly n00b class). BUT...
After Bad Company 2 I thought I would be done, but when the new maps were just the old ones in new modes and BC2 started hashing out overpriced DLC like MW2, then I decided to give it a try since my buddies still love playing it. Other than the overpowered perks I think MW2 is a good game, and I was able to get the maps free so... thats not a problem for me.
Also, the fast paced close quarters battles and 4 player splitscreen are something I can't really find in many other games unless I want to break out an old copy of Counter Strike or Call of Duty 4, but since most of my friends don't have Counter Strike and CS isn't splitscreen then MW2 scratches a certain itch when I'm with friends.
Still full of glichers and campers. Maps are still small and feel like shooting in hallways and corridors.
[QUOTE="mo0ksi"]The game had more problems than just killstreaks. It wouldn't be any different to me.Santesyusuch as?
1. Terribly unbalanced perks eg. Everyone uses stopping power, commando etc, nobody uses perks like sitrep.
2. Game ruining attachments such as heartbeat sensors which let campers know where you are, and noobtoob which kills everything within a 10 metre radius.
3. Weapons have zero kickback eg. ACR which fires dead straight even across the map.
4. Snipers are useless because most of the time they aren't even 1 hit kill and ACR+ACOG is better than any sniper.
5. Aim assist which means any noob who aims down the sight can automatically headshot you. The only way to get a killstreak is to camp because if you run around then some noob will headshot you with their SMG from 50 metres because they aimed down their sight.
6. Terrible map design eg. there are long corridors with many doors that enter the corridor, campers just sit at the end of the corrider and shoot anything that runs through.
7. Broken spawning system eg. you kill someone and then they spawn 5 metres away and kill you again instantly.
8. Tactical insertion. People just go into Free For All and hide in a places miles away and one kills the other repetitive times and they tactical insert straight back in to be killed again until the guy gets killstreaks and eventually a nuke.
9. Akimbo weapons. How anybody can reload two rangers or 2 P90s in 1 second is just stupid.
10. Tactical knifing. You can be knifed from five meters away, even from a guy who is carrying two weapons and somehow instantly has a knife in his hand.
11. Riot sheild, heartbeat etc. killed search and destroy.
And much more I can't think of right now so as you can see, killstreaks are not the only problem.
So there is a new gametype where there are no killstreaks? Is that on the 360 version too? I got tired of the game because of all the spawn killing from airstrikes and gunships. Those killstreaks were simply awful, awful, awful game design. Without those, it might be enjoyable.

not to mention barebones implies having the barebones of an FPS. the barebones of call of duty or any military shooter is your gun, your grenades and you melee attack. Which is boring and shallow. Perks add depth outside of gameplay, and if your smart you can make a class that can thwart off any seemingly unfair perk, or piece of equipment. Btw how if the heartbeat sensor awful, its awesome, and so is every other perk, and item it MW2. My point being they all give your enemy an unfair advantage, and the same goes to how theirs do to yours. Its just how they use them that determines who has the advantage which all in all takes skill, and pregame planing. Please Log In to post.
