I still cant understand why M$ is sticking to that excuse of design...They have improved everything from Xbox1 but still they insist on that roundy cluncky Dpad...
And the obvious question arises: Can the PS3 or even PS2 controller be used with Xbox360? If yes then a very strong disadvantage of the 360 is can just be remedied...

There's one problem with switching to the PS3s controller, you have to get the rest of the controller with it. Understandable, only for "d-pad enthusiast"....

Dpad aside, it's still the best console gamepad. It really doesn't bother me as I don't use it that much except in games where you usually use it as a inventory selector or something like that.

the worst thing about the 360 pad is that the analogue sticks are off set form eachother. its much more comfortable and natural to play with a symetrical pad like the dual shock or sixaxis.

well, you have an argument against the d-pad when compared to PS2/3 d-pad. But to be fair, as an overall, they have the best controller out there.

I mean, if I had to choose between having an excellent d-pad with the PS3/2 controller, or having an X360 controller (with excellent everything + a decent d-pad), I'd definitely choose X360.

P.S. The d-pad is only important for 1 type of games (fighting), whereas the analog sticks (which X360 has the best, and PS3 has the worst) is important in all next-gen games.

how can you say d-pad aside then say its the best. for something to be the best, it has to be the best in everything. this comment reminds me when a mayor of washington said, "apart from the everyday murders, we have the lowest crime rate in america" lol.

It's definitly not a very strong disadvantage...hardly any games use the dpad.  I think you are over-stating it just a little bit.

On the ps2 the d-pad WAS a third analogue stick as it responded to the amount of pressure you put on it along with almost all the buttons on the dual shock 2, even the most hardcore lemming can't deny that the dpad sucks on xbox/xbox 360 controllers.

Glad you could catch up with the rest of us that have known for nearly 2 1/2 years. The only use I've found its design handy was hotkeying stuff in oblivion and commands in squad based games.

The D is a bad aspect to an otherwise great controller.

I don't use it that often anyway, just for the occasional weapon/spell change. I've been a sticks man since the PS1 days.

k ive never heard such bs before, not only is the 360 con better all around. one of chief complaints againest the dual shock design is its analog sticks... on a side note i like the 360s dpad it works great once you get used to it.

in terms of D pad ive always liked the sony Dpad over the microsoft Dpad. However when playing games I find the analog stick way easier to control. Having said that the xbox analog stick is better placed than the sony analog stick. In terms of driving games and fps games i say the 360 is better. I rather use the sony control for sport games especially fighting ones.

That's moronic. Nothing is perfect. You can be the best at something overall and still have deficiencies in some areas. Many people state that the 360 controller is the best gamepad they've used and I agree. It's a fantastic controller with a weak dpad which I really don't use that often enough for it to bother me.

You know, lets put this in perspective. Bashing the 360 controller's D-PAD is really pretty silly. People are really reaching with this one. The lengths some people go to bash the 360 are really quite a compliment, especially when it deals with the dang DPAD. Weak sauce. I'm not a lemming, I'm a realist. And realistically, this is ridiculous.

I disagree. As for the d-pad I use it for SF2 Hyper and its not exactly great but not exactly terrible. I think if I really cared about d-pad games I would buy a nice joystick with the old fashion six button layout.

True, but it still is the best traditional first-party console controller.
