OS: Don´t you have any XP cd, you cheap bastards ? Where did you live all these years, in a cave ?

If you do have onemiser XP cd, then you can upgrade it to Windows 8 for 39.99 from a Microsoft online store.

Then the total would be 647, 05.

If I can build a 600$ gaming PC, imagine what Steam can make for the same money on massive scale and contracts with major hardware manufactures with their Steam Box. Besides this build is from components of 2012, its cost will be arround 400$ by the end of 2013.

Battlefield-3_Benchmark.jpg

***See the 4th column.

The prices of the component are bound to a specific date. The build´s cost was calculated in 01/04/2013.

Do computers run without an OS now? While Linux may be free, if we're installing games, then we're going with Windows. And it's not like the Win95 days that you can just install the same disc on as many computers as you like.

Since Windows required activations starting with XP, the OS registers the hardware it's installed on (gets info about the HDD, mobo, cpu, gpu, etc...) when it's activated. You can re-activate it on the same rig if you had to reinstall, but you can't install the same copy onto a different unit when the install process checks to see that it was activated on a system with completely different specs.

Even if you go with a Builders Edition of Windows (so not the standard shelf copy), it's still just under $100. Why do these topics always ignore the OS cost into the build?

Thats why you buy the upgrade disc and then use it to install the full version.

While the software I acquired via campus agreements will still activate, my access to new versions (or even replacements of what I have) is definitely gone. Unless you're going to remain a perpetual part-time student, I doubt any institution is going to continue to allow you access.

That's the way most people will go instead of taking a risk on the next Sony and Microsoft consoles that are destined to fail.

Honestly, Steam is already working on LinuxSteam. There is already a beta version. It´s a question of time when it will be expanded.

Wii U is such a mystery that it struggles to run Batman Archam city. This build would run BAC at 60 fps, extreme details

Would still rather wait another 2 years or so, so an even more beastly PC will be cheaper.SaltyMeatballs

I will buy mine in 2014, when the Star Citizen is released. So far my 4-year-old machine wasn´t threatened by any recent AAA game.

Playing everything maxed in 1080p, perhaps, only lowering AA and SSAA a bit.

The screen you play on is more important than people typically assume.

A system that costs 700$ which will be more then ps4 and 720 because they would never sell at that price. You have to put it together your self and it does not come with inputs like a console would. On top of that you lied about the price saying, you should use an old windows disc lying around which is breaking the law.

on a side note we don't even know what the specs are. You are just taking a shot in the dark picking a new gpu.

Why even build a budget PC... if your going to go that route, just spend the extra cash and really enjoy your rig. If you dont have the extra cash... stick to consoles and post about how PC is trash. As much as some herms would like to convince you otherwise... a nice rig will cost you.
