I for one am happy to see this. But of course ps3 fanboys will find some way to make the 360 look bad....but then again sony wants me to pay $150 to repair my ps3

lol i remember when i called em up and they asked for the 150. i was like ill find an alternative, and there actually was one. cost 30 dorrahI'm skeptical too. I think this only counts the new units. I still have a feeling it's the faultiest console this gen, but only by a couple points.
wow that's a lie. I was surprised that the failure rate seems almost the same, based on what I hear from people. Not surprising since MS flat out lied about the failure rates when RROD was in full forceGunSmith1_basicYou must hear that from Sony fans. Myself & 5 of my local friends all own Xbox 360 consoles & since MS made the upgrades we all haven't had an issue since.

Yes it counts new units & units that were upgraded at the repair center. All models prior to the upgrade are destined to fail, no one will deny that.I'm skeptical too. I think this only counts the new units. I still have a feeling it's the faultiest console this gen, but only by a couple points.

Less than 4%?
Sweet. Thank you Jasper Chip.

You like Jasper?
Thats a paddlin
4% isn't actually all that bad, its better than say an ipod.

Oh. Well I thought these were all the 360 sold. But if it's new/repaired units then I can believe it.

Because the new jasper units ARE at 4%, of course there are older models out there, but all the new jaspers (which were introduced in Aug 2008) have a lower failure rate.. Cows just refuse to accept it.
Now watch second-year failure rates jump through the roof.
.Err, great to see that failure rates are dropping to a much more acceptable rate. Can't say we'll see the end of RROD threads until a year later when all the old models of 360's die out and are replaced with new models though. :P

360 failure rate "below 4%" since 2008
Good news if true. I haven't had any problems with my 360 (later Jasper model). As for the fanboys they won't care.

Why in the world did they release this information now then?
I would love this to be true, but odds are it isn't. Like I mentioned, MS lied about this before and I continue to hear about RROD. If it is true this time, I might just buy a 360 since the price is down and the game library is impressive (probably better than ps3's), but I won't buy something that has the bad reputation that the 360 has.Good news if true. Don't know. At least we scratch off reliability from the 360 con list & PS3 pro list.[QUOTE="jasonharris48"]I would love this to be true, but odds are it isn't. Not everyone owns a new xbox 360 or have had their older model upgraded, so you will continue to hear about RROD. Also those 4% might have big mouths & you know you will also constantly have those weird PS3 fanboys making crap up to try & make the other Game Console look bad. I can't believe there are people that strange.Good news if true. I haven't had any problems with my 360 (later Jasper model). As for the fanboys they won't care.

Because in order to see the first-year failure rate of 360's released in 2008 or later, you have to wait...A year!:o

Cows continue to make up RROD stories, thats why you continue to hear about it here. MS lied just like Sony lied about PS2, but you can at least be sure MS will repair your console for free, and not charge you 140+ bucks for repair. You should take comfort in knowing that if it DOES die, you can get it fixed for free. I get nervous every time my PS3 freezes because i dont want to have to pay for the repair, yet i never worry about the 360, even though i know the failure rate is higher ( not really, i have a jasper:P )Good news if true. I have a falcon chip and im still running fine. The jasper must be amazing then :O. All in all, its a good time for those who is looking into buying a 360 :).
I just sold my broken Wii and the games and got over a $200 dollar credit at gamestop, I thought about getting a new one, then I laughed. I can't decide if I want to get a few PS3 games or get a XBOX. If Microsoft has in fact improved the hardware, I will brake down and get one.
So do I, for over a year.:o 1 year anniversary *high five* :P.[QUOTE="OPuniverse"]

Well then I will go ahead & welcome you to the Xbox Community. I've voiced my anger toward MS & the 360's hardware problems on here so many times & now I'm saying MS has solved the problem. I agree it took way too long & should have never got as bad as it did, but at least they did finally fix it. Though you wont find me on Live atm.. Demons Souls has sucked the life outa me for the past 2 months! It's starting to get a little ridicules! XBox Live - HAPPY70 PSN - True_Elite_GamerThe failure rate could be less than 1%, but that still ain't going to remove the stigma associated with the Xbox 360 hardware issues from the past. Pity.
