343 releases Halo 5 sneak peak image

343 Industries' Josh Holmes has revealed new concept art from Halo 5 at Halo Waypoint. The game will arrive on the Xbox One this year.

Holmes mentioned the departure of art director Kenneth Scott, who will still be a visual design consultant, as well as the arrival of Nicolas "Sparth" Bouvier. Bouvier created the concept art. Holmes said it's "an early exploration of a new location that features prominently in a little game project we're tinkering with..."

Yep. There is is. Excitement is assured. I know such users like darklink will be thrilled to see these concept shots. Or rather this one shot.

The good news keeps rolling in.

That looks like a Covenant Carrier underneath a smaller version of the UNSC Infinity

343 did a great job in knocking down all the damn purple color in the covenant ships. Now I see it is completely gone. Thank Christ.

I couldn't even finish Halo 4's campaign.

They're going to need more than that to entice me, 343 left me with little faith after Halo CE Anniversary and Halo 4.

Halo has such an ugly art style. From the creature designs, to the guns to Master Chief himself(such an outdated model).

I respectfully disagree. It's unique, and that's one of the main contributing factors to it's popularity. If Halo 5 ends up like every other shooter out there, I will be entirely uninterested. Halo: Reach was Bungie's best effort and the perfect way to end their time with the IP. I cannot wait for Destiny. I can and will definitely wait for this. Especially now that it's a Xbone exclusive (a great way to sell Xbone's, but not to me).

Just my opinion. It looked great back in 2001, but it hasn't aged well. I really hope Destiny doesn't copy it too much.

After Halo 4 I don't know where they can go. They didn't leave it open for much. At this point it feels like they are dragging a series well passed its prime along just to soak up the remaining pennies that fanboys are willing to spend.

After how great 4 was, I can't wait.

343i has hinted about the future of the halo franchise since late last year and something about this game will most likely be shown before E3.

Halo's story has a vast way to go, Flood, Precursors, Forerunners, So much more story for the masses, and by God is it going to get interesting

I think they had nothing interesting to show so they stole a picture from Destiny

Have to admit, after playing Halo 4, my personal hype for 5 is diminished. I hope 343 can knock it out of the park, but if they leave me with another game like Halo 4...

Concept art 11 months out before release? Doesn't look good for release. Those two videos not showing H5 for a 2014 release are looking more prescient.

Yes I was. I really like the game. I know many people here hate it. I played it a few weeks ago and really, really liked it. I mean it has issues, but I got more enjoyment out of it than Reach. I'm talking about the SP. I haven't touched the MP.

I thought the next game wasn't going to actually be Halo 5??

I dont think its past its prime. I think 343 was too scared to take too many chances and wanted to prove that they could make a Halo game and they made a Halo ass game. They did eventually make the multiplayer fun again but it should have never been as bad as it was at launch. I didn't think Halo 4 was a bad game like most people did but the next Halo game is their last chance to do something cool with the franchise.

I really don't understand the hate that Halo 4 gets. Spartan Ops was disappointing and the multiplayer had some balance issues at launch, but I still think Halo 4 is the best Halo game to date. If I had an X1, Halo 5 would be my most wanted game of 2014.

Awesome news, keeps coming. TitanFall and then Halo 5. If you love shooters the Xbox One is THE ONE.

343 did an exceptional job with Halo 4, so the next title should be one-hell of a game too. I was one of those who had serious doubts about the future of the series after Bungie went out the exit door, but 343 did an amazing job with the 4th. entry that even die-hard fans of the series applauded them for it. Cant wait for the next entry.

It is with deep regret that I will be passing on this for some time. I have no plans of purchasing an Xbox One anytime soon, but if I was this game would near the top of my most wanted list. Halo 4 was my favorite entry in the series and I really want to see where 343 takes it.
