That is essentially one reason why people consider the NBA of today watered down, and not nearly as good as it once was. That older Dream Team roster is filled with not only HoF players but some immortal figures that belong in the top 20 of all-time NBA lists. That team would never have lost the last olympics, nor this upcoming one. Added, if they played this newer team 50 times, they would probably win 45 of the matchups.

I don't think there's any question. They'd smash their way through without a second thought.

Wow, that team was loaded. Those guys knew how to play together as a team, players on those teams won tight NBA playoff series and championships. They wouldn't steamroll teams, but Dream Team I would defenitly win it.

I don't even think it's debatable

There is only one Dream Team, all the other references are done by hacks that should have their writing credentials taken away and barred from writing anything but a shopping list.

That is greatness in the highest order.

That basketball team was the most lopsided team in history.

I would put that team against the Miami Dolphins in a football game and they'd still win.

That team was just so stacked with players who just wanted to win, and its not like they took it easy on those other countries back then. They killed them all just to prove a point.

But what's so great about them was not only did they have the drive to win, they also put aside their egos and pride for the good of the team. And most of all, they played as a team.

That's quite something especially when you have Jordan, Bird, and Magic on the same team!

Just look at that team, it's got...

The greatest power forward in history

The greatest point guard in history

The greatest shooting guard in history

The greatest small forward in history

Two championship centers

Two of the most prolific pairs in NBA history

23 championships

How could anyone beat it? They lost 1 game in practice when they were first assembled. All it took was one game to pull everything together. Just that part is amazing.

I beg to differ with your assertion of Karl Malone, IMO Tim Duncan is the greatest PF to ever played the game. Also, I wouldn't in any shape or form disrespect Ewing and The Admiral; but were was Hakeem? The 96', Dream Team 2, had both Olajuwon and Shaq.

It depends what you're classifying Duncan.

If you want to put him at power forward it's a tough call, either one is extraordinary.

As for Olajuwon, he wasn't an American citizen so he couldn't play.

Umm is there a team that can beat em? The only thing you can do to make that team better is to add Shaq in his prime. That's it.

Dream Teams don't win gold medals. Ask any member of the 1980 U.S. hockey team.

That being said, these guys are just too good. They probably would win gold.

Off course the loss to Argentina was do to a bad coaching and player combo. Larry Brown loves veterns but the great guys one team USA were young guys not getting the minutes they should have do to Larry Brown.
