So, what kind of role do you all think Amy will have in Story Mode? What possible purpose could she serve? Think she'll be like a side character altogether like in SA2/SA2B?

She's conversing with Sonic, Tails and Wave in the cutscene for the Splash canyon track (2nd episode of the story(?)) Perhaps you can use her thereafter, similar to SA where you could play a character after they were introduced. But as it's still unclear how Story mode works - Is there a particular character you have to be for a given episode? Do you have to win as each team member? etc. It's hard to say what her role might be. The cutscenes seem to focus on specific characters - e.g. Knuckles and Storm in Metal City - so the episodes may as well. It may just be meeting her in Story unlocks her for other play. In the Frech video, she was the only character on the screen that wasn't one of the Story teams. But I'd like to see her play some part.

First off, I think it's safe to say Splash Canyon is the second "episode", and secondly, Splash Canyon is where they first meet Amy, I'm assuming. Or maybe she races w/ everyone else in Metal City and Sonic and the other notices her and they compete/join up or somethin'.

I think Amy's role in the story is her chasing after Sonic.

Question: On the JP Site, for the cutscene screenshots they show under Maps for Sand Ruins, is that Amy in a new costume (yellow)? Or am I seeing things?

I think you're seeing her bracelets. Her hands are rather obscuring her body in that pose. But I can't see well enough to say for certain.

Back to Amy's outfitg at Sand Ruins - you're right that it's not what she had been wearing; she's missing the red wristbands she's wearing in the in-game and Splash Canyon scenes. Maybe she dressed up to cheer Sonic on properly?

Here's a quote from a recent magazine. I can provide the source if you don't believe me. It says, and I quote:

The wily doctor is hosting the EX World Grand Prix, but he's requiring a Chaos Emerald as an entry fee from all participants (*Side Note: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Wave, Jet, Storm and Amy; Guess Amy's Role in Story is now divulged), with the winnder to take them all......"

At least now we know Amy's reason for being in the Grand Prix!
