Ok i know i didnt have to pick COD, but like you, i also dont buy very many games. Usually about 3 or 4 a year, and i have the 40 GB PS3 so i eventually have give my games away to get new ones. So i only keep them unless i LOVE them. I love all 3 of those games. No you didnt have to pick COD on your list. Of this Gen overall:
1) Red Dead Redemption - Not only did I finish this game, I actually did something I NEVER do with games: go Trophy hunting. I loved this games style, and characters. Completely fell in love and didn't quit until I beat it 10 ways from Tuesday. My kind of game. It felt down to earth, didn't have that "sell-out" feel alot of big titles have these days (like DA2). Not only the best old-west game ever, but one of the best action games of all time in general.
2) Heavy Rain - This game tells an amazing story (imo the best video game story-telling ever). A nice, laid back game that you can have a great time getting lost in. Delivers a connection I can't get out of most movies, yet still feels like a game. I got my eye on you Quantic Dream.
3) Fallout New Vegas - Would be first on the list if it wasn't plagued so heavily by bugs and glitches. A new patch was recently released (1.06) which addresses roughly a billion of the problems the game was plagued with. I haven't played with the new patch yet, but I've got it on the dl right now. But anyway: IMO this game has the best artisitc approach and a great, branching storyline. Fallout 3 is traditionally known to be a more smooth-running game, and that is true. But I really feel that NV out-did Fallout 3 in every other department. This game made me suffer for loving it (200+ hours and counting) but we'll see if 1.06 makes it worth truely downloading those add-ons and continuing further into the wastelands.
My top 3 on PS3 of all time are:
1. Demon's Souls
2. Fallout 3
3. Oblivion
FIFA 11, Valkyria, and inFAMOUS all get honorable mentions i guess haha. My current favorite though is FIFA. I'm hooked on Ultimate Team
games that Ilike most for my PS3 and in no particular order
-inFAMOUS
-inFAMOUS 2
-Batman Arkham Asylum
1. Red Dead Redemption (probably my favorite single player experience of all time and the multiplayer is excellent)
2. Fallout 3
3. Rift
I'm just really digging massive games where there is tons to do at the moment. Maybe that'll change but for right now I'm loving huge open world games.
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Red Dead Redemption
Dead Space 2
I haven't played enough of Fallout 3 as I just bought it, but it's really good.
MGS4 - i just like trying different ways and weapons to go thru levels
MVC3 - love the game and the controls, just wish the roster was better, and that there werent so many spammers online.
Skate 2 & 3 - im addicted to them. glad ea dethroned tony hawk. that series took a serious dook.
(my 3 new franchises i llove and also play often)
Uncharted series
AC series
Dead Space series
and of course GoW gets honorable mention.
