What did you think of Kingdom of Amalur's story?

I was surprised to find that some people (including Gamespot) find the story in this game to be lacking, considering it was penned by R.A. Salvatore. What did you all think?  What did you think of the game in general?  It's too bad the studio that made it went out of business.  Did anyone pick up the IP?

I didn't think it was anything special. By the middle of the game I really wasn't paying attention to it and just wanted to finish the game.

The story isnt really what drove me to play the game. I really liked leveling up and finding loot in a massive open world.

Story was a cool idea they could have gone deeper with. Just seemed lacking after a certain point. Loved the game for the leveling and what not. Gone back and reformed my destiny 2x now.

I actually really dug the story for Kingdoms of Amular. I'm still far from beating it but from what I've played, it kept me enertained.

I didn't care for the story but exploring the colourful world and finding loot, creating potions, armour and weapons was fun.  Overall I loved the game with the combat being the real draw card for me, infact it was one of only a few games this gen I spent well over 100 hours on.

Story was really as good as any other RPG or even some fantasy novels. Gameplay was fantastic, either combat, levelling or crafting.

It was actually fairly decent.  I spent about 99% of my time in that game doing non-story related things though, so it really didn't effect my overall opinion of it much.

Haven't been big on the story either, it seems kinda just generic fantasy. But the gameplay is fantastic and helps me overlook it. I'm disapointed that the studio went under, they put a good product out for a first try, I really would have liked to see what else they could do.

I enjoyed the side stories more than the main story, but that's not to say the main story wasn't bad. I wish I knew more of who my character was before they died. I know they explained it but they didn't flesh it out.
