Valkyria Chronicles sales increase 400%!

Sega is reporting a 400% sales increase in April (versus March) for the ps3 exclusive Valkyria Chronicles which also reveals how important price cuts are, im pretty much glad to hear this news and hope more people buy this game as its one of the best RPG games out there for ps3 :)

I'm sure 385% of the increase is due to Yokofox's campaign.

Valkyria Chronicles was one hell of a nice suprise ^_^ Glad to see that it's selling well.

Valkyria Chronicles is bar none one of the best PS3 games out there. Like I said in another thread, everybody who has a PS3 should own it.

This game has such a CULT FOLLOWING...I also own this game and bought it when they dropped the price down to $30.

Such a well made game and a wonderful way to refresh the strategy game genre...I kind of hope they don't make a direct sequel just so that this game also has its niche in the gaming community. I wouldn't mind a spiritual sequel though.

What I mean by this is that I don't want to see a Valkyria Chronicles 2. Something more along the lines of how Ico and Shadow of the Collosus are related.

Agreed 100%. Spiritual sequels are the way to go with games like this. I'd like to even see mainstream franchises do spiritual sequels.

I was pleasently surprised by how great the story and characters are in Valkyria Chronicles. I brought it for the gameplay and thought I'd dislike the characters because they came off as quite animeish when I looked at drawings of them. But they are actually quite relatable and they are not stereotypes or anything (well, the main characters aren't atleast). The story is the perfect mix between being dramatic and fun just like Skies of Arcadia's story was. As VC is made by the same people as SOA (one of my all-time favorite games), I should have never doubted the story as I think VC had a brilliant story despite the fact that Fina fell a little flat compared to Vyse and Aika and some others.

BTW, the way the story is told through the storybook is genius.

Hooray! Very nice to hear. Now give us another one Sega, and be quick about. Another Skies of Arcadia wouldn't hurt either. Perhaps some more cross-over there? Welkin, Alicia and the Edelweiss in the hold of the Delphinus, ready to be wheeled out in case of moonstone rains, Gigas attacks and Black Pirate raids. I'd buy it, for sure.

Oh so annoying I was trying to remember the name of this very game today in GameStation. All I could think of was Valkyrie the wannabe Hitler assassin and they didn't have one on display to jog my memory! Oh well I shall find it online because this game definitely looks the business.

I have not picked up the game but I am very intersested I don't want to know much about the game because i want to keep my opinion pure but where could i buy it cheap. Or cheaper like 40 or 35 newCarbineRules

This game still rocks and even has some hefty DLC. Still on my first play-through clocking at 65 hours thanks to being able to ramp up the difficulty. I really wish that if there is another disgaea game that it goes the Valkyria Chronicle way in terms of gameplay. After playing VC its harder to squeeze fun out of the Disgaea games with just on a grid from far away.

I totally agree with your last statement. Disgaea's lackluster presentation kills it for me.

I keep hearing good things about VC, but trophies and price are big factors when I'm deciding whether to buy a game. Now that the price has dropped, they just need to add trophy support, and then I'll buy it. And with the addition of trophy support, I'm predicting a 1000% increase!:D

when did they drop the price to 30 bucks? i found a copy at eb games here in canada pre-owned for 64.99. i bought it, and never had the chance to play it yet.

Valkyria Chronicles is amazing, and there is really no need for trophies because the game has many things you can unlock like medals and other stuff, making trophies pointless. :)

I love Valkyria Chronicles so much. It is one of my favorite RPG's ever and it deserves every sale it gets. Maybe if the DLC sells well Sega will be even more inclined to make a sequel.

I wonder if this is worldwide sales. youd expect the game to get a lift in japan with the release of the anime.
