Why not just get both. You can probably find Unreal Tournament 3 for >$15. It's not like they're both sixty bucks. But if you want to know what I prefer then here's a shocker: Unreal Tournament 3. I prefer twitch shooters to slower ones, and it doesn't get more twitch than UT3. It has vehicles, the same graphics engine as Gears of War, Splitscreen (BIG minus for Killzone 2), vehicles, keyboard and mouse support, and insane mods like Legoland, Halo, and Super Mario Bros maps. Characters like the Gears of War crew, Solid Snake, Master Chief, Samus Aran have been modded in, as well as being able to switch between first and third person. New stuff if popping up all the time. It's like the Little Big Planet of FPS's Killzone 2 has crappy controls, boring campaign that's single player only, and unbalanced classes like the Assault class. Does that mean that Killzone 2 is a bad game? Not at all, but when Modern Warfare 2 drops this year people will forget this game ever existed. Wow, I guess its just a matter of opinion.... I think KillZone to is absolutely phenominal. The campaign has a simple plot, but it plays out beautifully. The ending is great! It has the best graphics on any game to date. The AI is the smartest - OMG, they will blow you away from every direction. Don't think you're gonna get one over on these guys. They are better players than most the human beings online! And the online multiplayer is SO addictive and fun! Its very very chaotic; none of that slow, tactical stuff. Honestly, the maps are crazy because there are no hidey holes at all. No matter where you park yourself there are at least three directions at all times that someone can run up on you and lay your guts on the floor. Its INSANE!!!! There are always tons of people online, too. Even early in the morning, midday, midnight.. all week long. Its a definate must buy for any FPS fan who owns a PS3. UT3 is cool and is very very cheap right now. The mods are very very cool, too. However, the people are kinda scarce these days. So the online kinda suffers. KZ2 is a 100 times better than this. And the graphics? Oh, man. The Unreal Engine just got SOOOO pawned!!!!!
KZ2 is by FAR the better FPS experience. Nothing can save UT3 from being a medicore shell of 2k4 with pretty graphics. Besides there will be 10x the amount of players playing KZ2 then UT3.
depends what you want. Killzone 2 is slower and doesn't have the traditional modes found in FPS game (i.e. strait up deathmatch) and it doesn't have split screen but it has a really well balanced class system and is a lot more tactical. UT3 has a much faster pace, a lot of fun mods, and recently got split screen. Both game are good, they are just very different. personally I like Killzone 2 more, but I also like the slower pace. really you should just get both. you can probably get UT3 for $10-$15 now.
I personally really enjoy Killzone 2. I'd love to try UT3 myself, but from what I've been read, practically everywhere, is no one plays it. It's very unfortunate.
Killzone 2 owns ut3, but if you can afford both then buy both. (you could look on Amazon to save a few buck). I have both of them and I like having both, Co-Op on ut3 is really fun.

QFT UT3 is a disappointment for old school UT fans like me. It's fun but KZ2 is something else and has changed the way I look at shooters. All fps games should have kz2's cover system and AI as good as the helghast. However UT3 can be had for cheap but it lags terribly and the single player is laughable
