Thoughts on Mafia 2 demo

What did you guys think about the demo. It came it out today, I thought it was pretty good and im very excited!

it was pretty good but that time limit was BS

doubt i will buy it though kind of burnt out on sandbox games

I had to delete Tools of Destruction to make room for it on my hard drive.

It is pretty bad.Screen tearing and graphics are unclear and gunplay sucks. Pretty **** ai.

I didn't play it on PS3 but on the 360 it was fantastic. Can't wait to get it.

It's filled with screen tearing which is too bad as this makes or breaks a game for me. I simply can't support publishers/developers that can't release a proper game. Everyone craps on COD but at least it's technically ready on release unlike these broken games. Not saying the game itself won't be good, just saying releasing a bad demo with technical problems is stupid, and they lost my sale.

Gameplay was fun , graphics need a bit to work on though. overall id give it a 8/10

The graphics are garbage and I'm not too big on the controls. I'll probably pick up the PC version, though.

I quite like it, but whats with the lack of jump?

Just played a few moments ago, it was meh at best. At least I saw some Playboy rack before I deleted it lol

the demo is good - but the game? meh , gotta save my loot for fallout new vegas or whatever game coming down the pipe

It was pretty good, but still average to me. I guess its just not my type of game.

I thought it was excellent. About the screen tearing, it's only a demo and once the full product releases I'm sure they'll fix that.fighter91

I'll do this in list form, for easier reading:

1. Aiming feels a little clunky. After looking through the options, I found that the default setting for sensitivity was "Low." Changed it to "High." Much better. :)
2. Agreed on the lower framerate in buildings. Don't know why it's an indoor problem rather than an outdoor one.
3. Screen tearing is TERRIBLE. It probably wouldn't annoy me so much if it worked out like BC2 where any screen tearing ends up on the very top and bottom of the screen where you don't notice it.
4. I hate, hate HATE when devs do multiplat games and simply port over the other console's controls to PS3. Standard PS3 shooting controls are L1 for aiming and R1 for shooting. How do they not get this? Hopefully an option gets included or patched in to the final game. I just hope they don't patch it in AFTER I've already beaten the full game (thank you very much, Red Dead Redemption).
5. The demo was a little on the short side. I'll have to play it once or twice more to get a better feel for it. That said, I'm still very much interested in the game.

Is the Mafia 2 Demo avaible to everyone now or is it still just for subscribers? Been out for like 4 days now for playstation + users in europe when can I pley the demo without subcribe? eny one know's?

i played it and i i cannot believe how terrible it looks compared to the 360 version. usually when it comes to multiplats i cant tell a difference unless i really look for them but this was pretty bad.

Its available now on normal PSN, but maybe its just the North American PSN. European PSN will probably get it later.

na, I'll pass. GTA is the king of the criminal sand box genre. O and the map is gonna be tiiiiny. The only thing I really liked was that I got into a car accident at 105 mph and died on impact, that was good. I wanted to go out the windshield though lol. No jump though annoyed me. I went on a 12 minute(full demo time) killing spree and ran rampant over the police so the AI kinda sucked too :(

won't be buying, may be pirating for pc though

It made me anticipate the game more.

I didn't see any problems with the visuals (graphics, framerate, draw distance, screen tearing).

For me the visuals is least 8.5/10 and it might get better on the full version.

I just put it on again and noticed a ridiculous flaw(I don't care I wasnt going to buy it anyway but) wait until the police cruiser is like half a block away, empy a clip into it and they just keep driving. I guess the bullets don't register at that distance but yea, stupid flaw gunno how that could go unnoticed.

I have to agree, I was expecting the demo to make me wanna buy that game, because I heard so many great things about Mafia II and I was hoping for a really good game.

but honestly the demo didn't impress me at all, I thought it was meh

day one purchase.

Gameplay will always be > graphics; day one purchase.

i made a threat a month ago predicting this would happen..... gosh...... hate it when i got things right. don't know about you guys, but i'm definitely not paying for another shoddy port.

It reminded me alot of the first one in the movement and shooting. Think I might just rent it though.

In the first mafia it was open world but there was not all that much to see or do Im starting to wonder if this may just be the same.

With GTA and "Yakuza" series out there, why do devs even bother with tripe like this? Seriously?

There are tremendously high bars set now for crime games and sandbox titles in general now, and when you see something like this or "Godfather" or "Scarface" come out, you just feel bad for people throwing away months and years working on this **** in the punch bowl. Wow, I wasn't expecting much, but when you go in with that mindset and you STILL feel like you got shorted...

... that's pretty bad.

Respect to those who remain hopeful, but there's gotta be a better use for $60 at launch. This is a $20 "Nothing-To-Do-Bored-Silly" buy,at best.

I never had a thing for that 1960s gangster feel, nor do I feel interested in the open world this game offers. Not my cup of tea. :P
