When I stream movies via media center from my PC to my PS3, is it using my PC or PS3 to play it? Also, are all HDMI cables the same in terms of quality? If not, is there like a comparable number on the package I can compare or something?

Thanks

use ps3 media server, the best there is. you dont need to download any codec packs, it reads your computer files from the ps3 and works with mkv files as well. my other option would be tversity media server (need codecs for this one)...unless you can plug an HDMI cord from your computer to the tv, then there is no need

I guess it's like watching a movie from youtube, it's basically the same, data is transferred to your ps3 and your ps3 plays it. I guess. If you use PS3 media server software you can also copy the full movies from your pc to the ps3 so you don't need to keep your pc on while you watch. Takes only like 20 seconds for a gig to transfer. Just an idea.

The PS3 plays it. All HDMI cables should be equal quality in terms of data transfer. Just make sure you get the latest revision.
