So Sony releases a new console every 5 or 6 years, it's already been out for three now so we're about halfway through this gen until we see it's replacement in 2 or three years
Is any one ready for the PS4 or is the PS3 still entertaining enough?

Dude, the PS3 is just getting started! There's no way anyone should be ready for a PS4. Sure the PS3 has had a slow start, but I think with the new price point and the upcoming exclusives the PS3 is positioning itself for total domination. It's going to be a repeat of what the PS2 did. So, I'd say that we won't hear anything about the next Sony console for at least 3-4 years... with two to three years of development time, we'll see something official in about 6-8 years.

I hope this is a joke because the new systems won't be around for at least another 3, 4 or even 5 years. The PS3 still has a lot of it's main sellers not even out yet so of course it's still going to be entertaining and IS entertaining.
I get annoyed when people even mention the PS4. I don't know why, but I do. It shouldn't be coming out for several more years because there is no need for it to come out. You can talk about it when it's rumored to come out in the net year or so. Sorry, it just bugs me.
Sony has taken about 5 to 6 years to release a new console from the time the older generation one was released. This means that it'll be another 3 to 4 years before the time has come for a new system to actually be released, with announcements for the system occurring about now or next year. However, with the bluray and the implementation of a firmware updating system, the PS3 could last for longer. Disk space will be hard to run out of and new functionality and features could be added to renew the experience players have with their system. This gives the system more longevity since there are not many factors that will force Sony to add an entirely new system to the mix.
All of the companies seem to be in agreement that this generation will last longer than others because of the slow adoption rate. Most people don't even have HDTVs yet.

ok i misinterpreted your comment. this gen is different, the games cost a zillion more dollars to make so developers aren't really excited for another jump. also r n d cost would be too much for a recession. so yea we aren't expecting another console for awhile
I am very satisfied with my 60 Gig PS3 and I hope this system lasts a long time like maybe till my kids have kids :) My budget can not afford it. SO I am very happy!
Don't expect a PS4 until 2013 or a new xbox until then either, this gens consoles cost both companies A LOT of $$$ so they won't make a new one for sometime, except for the Wii, but even Nintendo wouldn't make a new system, all the companies obviously want to make as much money as they can or in the case of M$ and Sony gain back the money they lost.
Do we really need another console on the shelf.Plus the developers will be **** bout oh the ps4 is to hard to develop for will give all our games to the xbox 360 or 720 or whatever ms decides to call there system.I say we should enjoy what we have now then when this gen is getting down to the last few good games then bring on the next patch of consoles.
No of course not the PS3 still has a lot of good years left in it especially with most of the biggest titles that have came out this year and plenty still to come. Even if the PS4 was out in 2 years time and it's never likely I doubt the console will have any change the PS3 is already a beast of a system.
i personally think that a new System period is going to be far off because of the economy Sony/MS/Nintendo wont come out with another console in awhile ......at least that's what i convinced myself ....since i just bought a new System....:lol:
