As we originally reported late yesterday, Sony has set an October 30 Blu-ray release date for both the two-disc 'Spider-Man 3' special edition, as well as the 'Spider-Man: The High-Definition Trilogy' box set.

This morning, the studio issued complete specs for 'Spider-Man 3' via press release (which can be read in full here). Among the extensive extras planned are two audio commentaries with the filmmakers, eleven making-of featurettes, bloopers, photo galleries, a Snow Patrol music video and a gallery of TV spots from around the world.

Tech specs for the Blu-ray edition include 1080p video and both uncompressed PCM and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround tracks.

Retail price for 'Spider-Man 3' on Blu-ray is $49.95.

Sony has also announced 'Spider-Man: The High-Definition Trilogy,' a box set containing all three films in the 'Spider-Man' franchise. No additional specs are provided in the press release -- only a retail price of $99.98. We expect further details to be revealed in the coming days. Stay tuned!

As always, you'll find the latest specs for both 'Spider-Man 3' and 'Spider-Man: The High-Definition Trilogy' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, under October 30.

It's funny that you mention the DVD because even the DVD is going to include LPCM 5.1, something that the Xbox 360 can't take advantage of.

His "Evil Emo" look, and air humping routines killed a lot of that movie for me. I was greatly anticipating it.

Suggested Retail Price is never what the stores charge. Heck the SRP for DVD's can still be 30 and they sell for 20.

At 50 it'll retail for 30 on amazon which is a bit much considering most blu rays retail for 24-27 on amazon. I don't know why Sony is charging so much.

It's funny that you mention the DVD because even the DVD is going to include LPCM 5.1, something that the Xbox 360 can't take advantage of.

Xbox 360 = We can't even play DVDs properly. :D

The regular DVD will not have a 5.1 LPCM track. A LPCM track usually takes about 5-6GB, so they are going to leave only 2.5-3.5GB for video. Right.......

Typical MSRP for a HD DVD is between $30-$35, but you can usually pick them up for $20-$27.

Then that is a misprint, because NO standard DVD player has Dolby TrueHD, and they never will since it is not in the DVD Forum for DVD. Dolby TrueHD is mandated for HD DVD by the DVD Forum

What the press release means is that there will be two versions for Blu-ray. A single disc release, and a special edition double disc release.

Double DVD Collectors Edition

Double Blu-Ray

Spider-man Blu-Ray Trilogy on 4 Blu-Ray discs.

Oh wow... $50 bucks for a movie...

Thank you Blu-ray for making mediocre movies cost as much as video games. Just what I wanted. A two hour movie and a ton of extras I'll never watch.

This isn't coming to HD-DVD. :D

BTW, Toshiba does have some nice 3rd gen players coming, but too little too late.

HD-DVD is losing Weinstein as an exclusive studio by the end of this year.

I know that Spider-man will never be on HD DVD, but trust me they are not out of the game yet. If they fail this holiday season then they will fold, but I have a feeling that we will see a huge push from them this holiday season.

Spider-man the live movies ruined spider man for me. So as to me buying the blu-ray versions? Heck no. I'd rather not watch a emo-child look alike play spiderman anymore. X-men and batman both brought the characters alive and somewhat how they would look in the comics. Though spiderman? It focused more on peter parker, than actually spiderman.

Spider-man the live movies ruined spider man for me. So as to me buying the blu-ray versions? Heck no. I'd rather not watch a emo-child look alike play spiderman anymore. X-men and batman both brought the characters alive and somewhat how they would look in the comics. Though spiderman? It focused more on peter parker, than actually spiderman.hazuki

You missed the whole point of the Spider-man comics. The comics are focused on Peter Parker, rather than Spider-man.

The movie is not good enough to be charged $50 for, now for the whole collection in blu-ray maybe its worth it.
