Hello all, soon I am going to be upgrading to a 320 gb slim and I was also thinking about buying a different router since mine is old now and I have been barely able to play online with it anymore. I was wondering which routers you would recommend for a wireless connection. My PS3 is about 40 ft from my router.I also use my router for my iPod and laptop. Which routers would you recommend based on these details?

save your money.. buy a long ethernet cable, you can get 100ft for about $25 bucks.. Wired connection is much better anyway.. if you'd rather go wireless go with almost any new N-type router.

The ps3 supports 802.11g while the ipod and laptop (most likely) support n. b/g/n are wireless standards with N being the fastest and most current standard. I would recommend http://www.amazon.com/******-Wireless-Router-Latest-Generation/dp/B004N6259G/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1315258761&sr=8-10 if you only need decent range. (n routers are backwards compatible with b/g machines like the ps3)

Are you serious about the ethernet cable? They actually make them that long?

I work with 250m+ drums of Ethernet cable, just crim RJ45 plugs on either end and you have a 250m CAT5SE cable :D So you could almost certainly find one on ebay or get one made. Poison_Facecam0 is right, Wired connection is the way to go if possible. It will also save you alot of money on a more expensive wireless Router. But if you still intend on the Wireless option, I personally really recommend any a Netgear router.

Yes (you can get one off of amazon for less than 10 bucks for 50 ft). However you need a router if you want to connect your ipod.

ASUS RT-N56U, or a cheaper option of a RT-N16 and mod it with Tomato.

Between those 2, is the Netgear WNDR9700
