Any device connected to the Internet that can execute code may be susceptible to getting a virus. However, as far as I know there are no known viruses for the PS3 or any other console for that matter. It's not that they are impervious, just that no one has bothered to write one or has not found a way to distribute it.zaphod_b
yeah i agree to this ay, im pretty sure someday ppl will just made one since every consoles games are connected to the internet these days.
For over a year now, the PS3 has been deemed "unhackable". Hackers worldwide actually ran a test. Some guy left his PS3 on for a whole weekend and have told any hacker on earth, to do their worst. Not one has cracked the PS3, even with Linux running. As of right now, it's untouchable. 5 years from now? I'm not so sure. But if there will be, don't be downloading just anything and use your PC to visit websites. Only do updates directly through the PS3 when it asks you to. It's not really that hard figure out what to avoid.Denji
i rather browse my internet through my pc which is next to my ps3, what im scared is, someday some bums will add you up on PSN and send you an attachment and act as your mate and when u download the pics ( whatever theyre sending you) could be a virus!

That's why you don't download anything from strangers, heck, I don't even do that now. It's a no brainer. If some guy's on your list you haven't actually played with, just delete him. It's not rocket science.

There was a "virus" that bricked your PSP when people downloaded updates off random sites, which were of their own fault.
regardless of your opinions your ps3 is wide open , there needs to be someway to scan and remove viruses malware and persistant cookies and scripts.... take usb stick go online for aweek move it to your pc or the hd itself and do a scan see for yourself where can people get areal scanner for the ps3? pazsionMy PS3 is not wide open. My PS3 is behind a firewall. You're only going to get persistent cookies by using the web browser, and cookies are not inherently malicious. And, since you're an expert, please inform us of the current viruses and malware that are infecting PS3's. I'd really like to know what they are.
