I used to use Orb. It worked for a bit but eventually ended up messing with online play.

It should be able to do it competently (it should be built in), but at this point I'm just glad the thing can play the botched ported games I only rent now.

I just use Windows 7 HomeGroup. Enable sharing, update library locations, steam and watch media. I do this nearly every day without issue.

I can't speak for the other programs people have mentioned, but Tversity has always worked very well for me.

PS3 Media Server is all you need.

I've used it for years and for an open-source product it is amazingly reliable. It has a very active community too, if you do have problems.

If you just want to use plain old Windows Media Player, you can go that route too. Works for most of my video, but I sometimes have problems with my music. For reason, I've had better luck streaming music with my 360.

You should search/google PS3 media server guide. I tried it, but I was constantly getting signed out of PSN. Not worth it imo.

if you have video formats that aren't compatible with the PS3, then the PS3 media server is best. It recodes the video so that you can stream it to the ps3.

Have them on the same router, turn on the windows media player, top left of the window choose Stream>allow devices to play my media Thats it. Also, better save the videos you wanna stream on a playlist, and dont forget to leave the media player on in your computer.
