I've been looking at what best buy has and they have such a wide variety and I can't really tell whether in my case I'm even going to be able to tell a difference between say a $30 headset and a $70 one.

Any input would be great.

Do you have Warhawk? I hear good things about the headset bundled with the retail version.

i have no idea about headsets but i'd like some info too....i have owned one for a while now but volume is so damn soft...it's hard as to hear people....(the volume is on 5 (highest) on the ps3) and i put it right up on the headset itself....the volume is WAY below what i would hear on the phone.....

the headset had ps3 on the packaging and everything...is the volume low for everyone or what??...probably just got a dudd one but i dunno

I have a similar problem. I'm using a Sony Ericsson headset, the volume is set to 5 but I have to yell to be heard. But the same headset works fine with my phone.

I bought the Jabra something or other at best buy for 35 or 40 bucks. Works fine. And I don't have to match it up with the PS3 everytime I start it up. Sound quality is decent. Only thing is the actual ear piece is a bit large for my small ear so after a couple of hours it is kind of painful.

I bought a Motorola bluetooth headset and it kept freezing up my PS3, so I returned it and got a more expensive Motorola and that one kept cutting out. Decided to go with Plantronics and boy am I glad I did. I have 3 of them now, and all 3 work perfectly with my PS3. I can hear everyone fine, they can hear me, and best of all...they don't cut out. So my advice, if it is worth anything, is to go with Plantronics. Everyone I have talked to that has that brand has been satisfied.

If you are wanting to keep the price on the cheap go with a Jabra. I have one for the PS3 and it works great.

Plantronics make probably the best headsets out there, but you don't need to go with their top-end. Most of those are designed around advanced wind-noise reduction and don't apply to playing a console indoors.

Ok. Plantronics definitely sounds like the way to go It seems , unless one of the other brands has some sort of awesome special on.

Also I was wondering if buying warhawk with the headset for like 40 bucks made any sense at all?......that headset is pretty good right?

It makes sense. Be warned that Warhawk is online only. I prefer a game that offers both online and offline play.

get a jabra, dont get an expensive one, not really worth it.

the high price tag usually makes minimal difference, unless you're picky.

Is there any big difference between buying a Jabra vs a Plantronics headset?

Buy Warhawk. You get a great game and a great Bluetooth headset (Jabra... I don't remember the number; it's like BT-125 or something).

does anybody else have the problem that hearing in the headset is FAR harder to hear than say a phone?

Get a corded one. You can get a used Logitech corded headset for like 15 bucks at Gamestop. The cord is forever long and wont be a problem unless you plan on playing in a movie theatre.
