MGO To Shut Down June 12, 2012 =(

MGO is without a doubt the best game I enjoyed this gen. Base and Capture was so much fun.

I was just about to make a topic about it! lol....Anyway, the MGO concept was great but the end product was "OK" at best. I do feel for the MGO community though because it wasn't huge but it did have a decent amount of people playing it.

I'm surprised that it even lasted this long. With how poorly Konami implemented it with the IDs and such, would have expected it to go down a lot earlier than it did.

I never tried it because I bought MGS4 late. I mostly played the game for single player. I guess I will never have a chance at it.

I never cared for MGO, but its sad that all the fans who do play it are getting screwed over.

Can't say they're getting screwed over really. They've had a free multiplayer game for, what, 4, 5 years now? There's no charge for playing it. No DLC or anything of that nature to help fund it. The game can't be pushing that many copies (let alone new copies) at this point. There's really nothing there to contribute revenue, only expense on Konami's part. It was only a matter of time before they shut it down and honestly I'm surprised it's taken this long.

It had a terrible account system and the menus were like a maze, but it holds fun memories.

Getting it up and running was a pain, but after that it was pretty fun.

I played thro the SP and then moved onto other games...doh

I enjoyed it when it came out, but gave up on it shortly after the 1st map pack was released. Overall this doesn't really bother me.

i bought MGS4 little while ago for $10 on sale and didnt get a chance to pkay it yet. guess ill have to try out the online b4 its gone

This is sad news, I stopped playing it a bit over a year ago but I logged in over 400 hours playing MGO...no other online game has come close to that, ssome games might get around 50 hours of online play but the majority of them get 20-30. There was something about it that just had me coming back to it.

It was a huge pain signing up but the game itself was great.

This is sad news, I stopped playing it a bit over a year ago but I logged in over 400 hours playing MGO...no other online game has come close to that, ssome games might get around 50 hours of online play but the majority of them get 20-30. There was something about it that just had me coming back to it.

I think I tried to get started in the online but I can't recall ever playing a match so I must of never got through the startup process. My brother bought the game when it first came out and thats the disc I played so I know it came with MGO. Oh well.

Between Demon's Souls servers shutting down in May and this, its a bad year for me to enjoy my online classics.

Metal Gear doesn't deserve to be a game. The series sucks since it is so hokey and corney and just plain stupid and silly and ridiculous.
