At first, I saw LBP as another platformer with the perk of having UCC. It was not until before E3 that the game bought me. Thats almost 2 years not being hyped by the game. What caught my eye was the possibility of creating a whole game (series of levels) out of this. But not only that, you can also add an story to the game, and from what Ive heard, a custom st. The Sony press at E3 sealed the deal imo. Im 21, and I thought that platformers were just out of my life. Now I see them as mediocre titles, included SMG, a game that pales in comparison to SM 64. But LBP had something different. Yes, we may not be killing things, which is what most of the gamers look (reason why games as Indigo Prophecy and the upcoming Heavy Rain are not stellar selling games).
The level creation options though are somewhat crippled by the amount of things you can add on 1 level, but you can solve that by joining levels which solved the problem. You may have a shorter level, but with a more complex layout.
