List of PS3 1080p games october 2008

Hi y'all i just bought a 40" sony FullHDTV that runs 1080p resolution, now i got myself Star wars Force unleashed which runs at 720p, Far Cry 2 (720 too), and Dead Space which i can upscale at 1080p (Crazy sh$&T !!) but i was searching the web to get a list of recent natives 1080p games but couldn't find a damn forum that's well updated!

i mean they were all discussions of 2007 games or 2008 beginning. Now i don't want to start a discussion on if i should upscale a game, if the upscale is better on ps3 than xbox, or about the difference of native 1080p and the rest, i just wanna know which new games will come out in fullHD so if someone can post an updated list of all 1080p ps3 games that would be cool.

Yeh i would but from what i saw, i doesnt really says if the game is Native 1080 or only supports it

Some ppl will tell me theres not a big difference but when i see games like wipeout HD it just makes me want more lol

Yeah the devs don't want to tell you it's been upscaled so oftentimes it's hard to know.

On the case of cod4 it says that it plays at 1080p however when the game first starts like my tv change modes and at the top it says 720p which is odd. I dont know if the tv is wrong or there is something wrong with the ps3 because i have a 1080p tv and its not playing 1080p according to the info on the top.

no i think MGS4 is 720p max it cannot upscale...

It's okay if the games arent natives 1080p but i just wanna know which games look awesome (upscaled or not) at 1080 on a full HDTV cuz i just like good graphics...

BTW Far Cry2 cannot upscale to 1080 but even at 720 its just awesome!

lol hell no its not gonna waste... i Have Dead Space which is really Freakin awesome at 1080 ( u wouldnt believe all the details :) ) and i'v rented Saint Rows 2 which i can upscale too..Method_Man_45

Yeah Dead Space is the best visual game to hit my 1080p HDTV (1920x1080 resolution) since Uncharted!

It's the same reason dev teams don't make all games run at 60FPS, but 30. What is the reason exactly? Who know, I'm a gamer not a programmer! :)jjtiebuckle

MGS4 is native 1080p it downscales to 720p

wtf? wait, i have a HDMI ready 1080p 24" monitor (1920x1200) and wen i play dead space on it it looks like crap compared to when i play it on my 32" 720p HDTV (it better detailed on my tv then the monitor and its darker to) y is that?LP4EVA2005

well one reason could be the size of the moniter...50 inch tv's tend to bring out the difference between 720p and 1080p...ppl say there's a difference between the two on a 42 inch screen but i don't really notice the difference unless i play dead space or mgs4...to the TC wipeout hd, mgs4, dead space, warhawk, and cod4 should suffice...

you can get COD4 tp play in 1080p if you uncheck 720p in the video settings. Just make sure you recheck it before playing any other game that plays only 720p.

I am seeing a LOT of wrong things being posted in this thread guys...seriously, don't drop facts/resolutions unless you TRUELY know what you are talking about.

There are only a FEW games on both the 360 and PS3 that are TRUE 1080p, not upscaled, and COD4 is NOT one of them, no matter what your tv tells you.

MGS4, The Darkness, Virtual Tennis, and maybe a few more are TRUE 1080p...that's it folks...only a handful. Not sure about R2...guess we'll find out.

Lego Batman for PS3 goes 1080p natively if you have a 1080p tv.

Mostly all PS3 games are 720p so your 1080p is going to waste unless you want to watch blu ray moviesyonnex

I would disagree that 1080p is going to waste - because IMHO a game upscaled to 1080p from 720p still looks substantially better than 720p.

I believe that Ridge Racer 7 is the only true 1080p game (Ridge Racer 6 was on the 360 as well), although Wipeout HD is too if you ignore that it scales the resolution on the fly. Still, barring too much on-screen action Wipeout is technically 1080p.

Everything else cheats. And I still fail to see the difference between 720p upscaled to 1080p by the TV or the PS3.

(or even sub-720p games, which I'm sure Ratchet falls into)

i swear on my life im not trolling but it does seem like the 360 gets way more 1080 games than the PS3 even multiplats are usually 1080 on it and still only 720 on PS3 ( i love my PS3 way way more but hey its an interesting point) which is stronger. juno_22

This is because the 360 does it's upscaling through hardware and the PS3 does it through software. Every 360 game can be upscaled to 1080p because of the built in scaling chip, so most 360 game cases will say 1080p. Since the developers have to program the scaling into PS3 games, not many bother and 720p is as high as they go.
