whats that? :O
I have the 60 gig version and it plays all the old games pretty well. The only annoying thing is my controller turning off everytime I put in a ps2 game. But the 60 gig pretty much plays every game, the 80 gig will play prolly the game you would want to play, and the 40 and 20 don't play any. I think the 80 here soon what have any bc exept for ps1. So get the 80 now before it is too late.craftieman05The 20GB has the same BC as the 60GB.

Can you someone install this chip into a 40GB to allow backward compatability?

No because the boards are not even configured close to the same way.
The 20 and 60 gig NTSC PS3's had the EE chip but the PAL used the software emulation just like the 80 gig does now.
