I'm 31 and unfortunately, i'm being forced out of gaming due to age, which sucks considering the fact that I don't have kids. Now I do have a love life, but I don't let the PS3 interfere.

Its just odd that something so casual can draw such criticism.

24 and still playing video games.

I don't think that there's an age to quit gaming but I do believe that gaming shouldn't interfiere with life.

You are never to old to play video games. I mean, aslong as you know how to handle all of the task in your life you are good.

when you cant hold a controller anymore, when your eyes give out and you can no longer see your tv. No age is too old, gaming is for everyone.

I'm 19 and i know that i'll be gaming for as long as i can.

The two are not necessarily incompatible.

I'm 28 myself, have been with my wife for 9 years and we have a daughter. I can't say my wife has ever been supportive of my gaming habits but it sure as hell never has been a matter of conflict. She now plays games from time to time.

Have you tried introducing your loved one to gaming (by personal experience, a Wii definitely helps)?

And why exactly are you FORCED out of gaming?

I dont think youre ever to old. If you have free time on your hands why not do what you like with it?

If your girlfriend looks down on it to I would tell her to go screw herself. I would never date a girl who gives me crap about what I do if it isnt interfering with work or relationships.

I appreciate the feedback from everyone, and several of you have the same questions.

My ex was not pushing for me to stop much, but if she called she would always ask if i were playing the game and I could tell she didn't like it too much. However, it was never a real problem.

The real killer is that you can't exactly tell someone you may be interested in that its one of your hobbies. Not at this stage in life, anyway. The stigma that it is a "kid's thing" is still prevelant in this day and age and I don't really see it going anywhere.

It would be cool to have a girl who like games, but I haven't been so lucky.

if you can't grow too old of movies or books then you can't be too old for games (unless you own a wii)

can you really be too mature to shoot people in the face? or too old for cutting off limbs? i don't think so.

if your girlfriend is pushing you towards quiting then dump the **** and slap her in the face with an atari.

I didnt see this post before I replied to your original topic. As far as a "stigma", its just that. You don't have to answer to anyone about anything that you like to do. People either like you for who you are or they don't. You don't have to quit doing something you enjoy just because someone else thinks its childish. I'm sure that person has hobbies or likes things that you don't agree with, but they don't have to quit, nor would they probably quit just because you don't find it enthralling. Best thing to do if your significant other thinks its childish is to get her to try a game that you feel she may have fun with. Show her how its a break from reality and is no different than people who collect things or have hobbies.

Perhaps "forced" was a poor choice of wording. More like it draws the ire of the sexy ladies. lol

My parents aren't too keen on it either.

Do your parents still pay your bills? Will your sexy lady not want to be with you if you ever play games? If she wont be with you because your gaming, pick a hobby/habit of hers and tell her she must quit it if she wants to be with you. See how that goes over.

Never. When you let it interfere though then you have a problem, but you said you dont so your good. If its your girlfriend/boyfriend making fun of you then should reconsider the relationship. Dont change who you are cuz someone else wants you to. Be yourself.

There never is an age limit. It's how you treat it, balance it and what it is in your life.

I will never quit being a gamer. It's what I enjoy, it's a great passtime for me. Sure, if I have a baby I might play it a lot less for a little while. But it'll never be tossed aside. Love life or not. I know what takes priority in life and just like everybody else, it's your entertainment. All the same as your girlfriend reading romance novels.

Most of the "critics" are nothing but mindless conformists from what I've seen.

Do what you enjoy. Everybody else is.

I'll be playing until I die!:o

Probably not as intense as I do now, but I think the generation which was brought up on Atari and Super Mario Bros. will have an eternal connection to video games.

this isn't meant to sound mean, but it sounds like you are too worried about what someone else thinks of you, and you aren't standing your ground. If games, or any hobby for that matter, in anyway dictate your personality and change the type of person you are then that's a problem. But if you're a good person, andyou aren't breaking any laws then it shouldn't be a problem. You want to be with someone for the person YOU ARE, and all that comes with you. If you meet a girl and say one of my hobbies is to play video games from time to time, and they judge you, you don't want to be with that kind of person. By the way i'm just a couple years younger than you, so i'm not speaking from some hypothetical stance.

You kidding? Most people still think video games are "toys for kids". They think it's justified. Tell a woman she can't do something? Why, that's just crazy talk:P LOL

Until they day you die homes!

But yeah, there is no age limit on something you enjoy doingm, especially gaming.

As everybody has posted prior to me, as long as it doesn't consume your schedule.

Personally, I am pursuing a career in writing for a videogame magazine, so I know I will be playing them for a while.

It just depends on who you are and what you do.

Well, I don't play that much as I used to, but a real good excuse to stay updated with consoles is when you have kids and they want to play with you, you have your chance there.
