For those that preordered a PS4, did you get an extended warranty?

I preordered mine off Amazon and bought the Square trade extended 2 year warranty. They emailed me to let me know the warranty won't start until the system actually ships since it's a preorder. Just curious though, since launch systems are notorious for odd bugs and such, anyone get a warranty regardless of where you preordered it from. Oh, and for the curious, Amazon does charge you immediately for the warranty. So at least that isn't added to the cost of the system whenever it actually ships.

I'll probably get the one Sony offers later on. As for now I don't care and just wanted to get my pre-order submitted before it was too late.

No, I didn't get an extended warranty. I have owned 20GB, 60GB, 80GB, & 160GB PS3 models & non of them ever had any problems. I also owned 2 PS2s, & a PS1 which never had any problems either.

A manufacturer's warranty, yes. I'm not sure if that's a year, though. 90 days sounds more like it.

Hi:

Nope.  I never do extended warrentees and I have yet to regret it.  If I get a chance to get this from COSTCO before it ships I will cancel and get it from there.  They extend warranty's for most of their electonics as part of their member rewards.

I pre-ordered through Gamestop and wasn't asked if I wanted to get an extended warranty, but if I can still get one I'd like to.

its a year.

Manufacturer's is a year from purchase, 90 days after an out-of-warranty repair. In addition, two versions of the 2-year extension are available, one of which includes accidental damage.

Don't let the rumor mongers on System Wars fool you, Sony's not fucking around.

Sony's plan for 3 years is pretty cheap, I think it was 50 bucks. I was offered the same damn plan at best buy for 100.00.

I did the 36 month accidental from PSN. I used the $10 psn code towards it too. For 3 years of coverage, it's well worth it. I'm currently regretting not getting a warranty on my HDTV, red sparkles started showing up right after 1 year and 5 months. Now i'm gonna have to shell out extra cash to get it fixed... estimated around 400-500 bucks if it's one of the chipset boards. If the panel needs replacing, I'm gonna have to start looking for a new tv, which if thats the case is really going to suck.

On electronics that you care about, it's worth it. On launch mass produced products, it's more on the rare side that they won't run into any problems. Sony is usually pretty good about quality products, but I did it just to be on the safe side, and it only costs as much as 1 game, cheaper if you use the 10 credit you get with the system.
