Yeah it was a pretty amazing game as well as long, i'm gonna pick me up a 4GB stick tomorrow and download immediately after. Does it handle well with the PSP's control scheme? u know lacking the 2nd analog and 2 triggers...

I don't remember VIII using both analogs anyway, so that shouldn't be too much trouble. idk about the double triggers though...
The right analog stick was an option for moving the vehicles. For example, up and down on the stick moved you forward and back, but the game also had you use square for propulsion so it didn't matter. Either way, I've been waiting for this forever. My favorite Final Fantasy now on my PSP. Best day ever! :D
Now some of you are asking for IX already? Also how would you keep both the Escape buttons (L and R2) and Squall's gunblade button (R1) without reassigning too much?
Yup, and then the main series trilogy (7,8,9) from The PSone days would be complete on the PSP :D I must admit I'm shocked to see it appear so soon, as I was expecting not to see it til maybe like spring of next year.
Do the PS1 games released on PSN fill the height of the PSP's screen? I know that most games not released on PSN do not, and thus are practically unplayable for me.

You can change it so that it does. I'm not an idiot. I know all about the different display modes. I'm referring to the one that's already supposed to stretch the image so it fits the screen vertically. I tracked down an example image just for you: look
That is a typical example; the worste I've seen is Xenogears--the black bars are perhaps twice that size.

There's actually a new option (with latest FW) that lets you adjust the screen to your liking. That way, you can remove the black bars in most games, including Star Ocean 2, Xenogears, and Final Fantasy VIII.

FF7 only uses the L1 and R1 buttons to escape, so I was good on that.

joystick, its not that annoying for ff7 and 8 but it does become a pain in other games like metal gear, and even more so in games like soul reaver but if ur stickin to final fantasy you wont mind it

That's good to know... though I'm not sure how practically useful. (who uses the latest firmware? lol)
I'm downloading it right now via Media Go! I'll let you know how the controls work after it finishes (which could take a while). I also got Fieldrunners and an extra song for Rockband.
