I'm going to get the PS3 Bundle when MGSIV is coming out and after that I'm going to be getting MGO which is coming sometime this year. but do you need a computer to play online.
Typically one would have a PC if they have broadband Internet service, but you could have the service just for videogames. PS3 just picks up the signal from a router, just like a PC does. Really, the PS3 is a PC of sorts.

as many people have said, you DONT need a computer, you could just plug the internet modem directly into the ps3 but the ps3 does have a wireless adapter so maybe you could connect to a neighbours wireless connection for free
if you used a wireless keyboard and mouse, your ps3 could function as a bare bones pc. good enough for surfing the internet. i use my ps3 the stream movies and music from my pc to my tv/stereo

an internet connection does not come from a pc, the connection comes from your modem, and in most cases through a router, either wired or wireless. it has nothing to do with a PC.
No, you don't. For a few reasons I haven't got around to setting up a wireless network in my home yet. When I want to login to PlayStation Network I just switch the ethernet cable from my PC to my PS3, unplug the modem from power for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in. It works just fine.
You don't need a PC to play online, you just need an internet connection...if you can "receive" a wireless connection from somewhere or hook a modem up to the PS3, then you'll be all set...but internet and PC usually go hand and hand...
I don't know what some of you are thinking. The only way to set up an internet connection is by having a PC. So yeah TC you need a PC to play PS3 online otherwise how do you get your internet setup? Now if you just use the Wi fi and steal off someone eles's connection then no you don't need a PC.

You are completely wrong, my friend. You don't need a PC at all. You just need a modem/router that's connected to your ISP. Any set up required such as IP address, DNS, etc. is handled in the PS3 settings menu.

lol, when i got the internet hooked up, i had it plugged into my ps3 for the first week because i hadnt bought a computer yet. i had just moved out on my own.

So wrong .. all you need is an internet connection .. call a provider and ask them.
i dont have a pc but i do have a speedtouch modem with no internet connection, can i plug 1 end of a ethernet cable into the back of the ps3 and the other in the modem and plug the modem in my ps3

incase u dont know PS3 > PC, u can buy logitech mediapro wireless keyboard and touch pad it rox thats all u need to match it to a pc internet.

ur level 32 lol wtf, all u need is a wireless router with internet connection with correct security key or ethernet wire to the back of the ps3 rj45 port with all the details like username and stuff incase of pppoe connection. thats it, yes but u need pc to setup ur router initially but once it is setup u dont need pc anymore.
well i use a ps2 my wii and my ps3 just whit my internet cable directly from the modem.for 3 years and trust me i dont have a pc.forgive my english ppl

LOL, huh? You do not need a PC to access PS3's online features. My PS3 isn't connected to my PC.... who does that anyway? My PS3 has access to the internet via wifi.
