Hey guys... I recently got a 250 gb ps3.. I was wondering what was the safest and most effective way of cleaning the dust off the ps3 outside as well as inside in the vents. Also, how often should i clean the ps3. Once a month? once a week?

Help is appreciated :)

Thanks

Outside = just use a clean cloth that is not a towel and avoid doing anything more than lightly dampen it. Inside = use a low-powered vacuum or compressed air. Compressed air will not get electronic-damaging moisture into the system, nor will the vacuum do crazy stuff with its static electricity like some people will tell you. You only have to do this maybe 2-3 times a year though, so just keep it clean on the outside, and the inside should look likewise.

Don't use compressed air, if dust blows in certain spots it will screw up your ps3.

Inside- Low powered vacuum.

Outside- Soft cloth, like a shirt or something.

Outside - I like to dust mine weekly. You can use either a micro-fiber cloth (won't leave scratches), or the Swiffer duster for my entertainment center.

Inside - Either a DataVac electronics vacuum (doesn't have static build-up issues), or compressed air (only in short bursts). All electronics should be kept clean and dust free, or dust will shorten it's life.

For everyday dusting of a PS3, I use a microfibre cloth. Once in a while, I use a soft colth with some furniture polish on it. The black plastic case of the PS3 not only gets dusted, but it gets sligthly shinier; nicer.

low powered vac does nothing. I dont even think a high powered vac would do anything. Dont believe me, try a year or two of using a vac. and crack the ps3 open and you'll be amazed how much dust is on the inside.

I do that to. It's pretty effective for dust on the outside of the case.

OK-But why not just use a proper yellow duster?-They're cheap as chips to buy-usually £1 for bowt 10 of them.

I don't clean my PS3 unless it gets really dusty cos its a Phat one and they tend to scratch to hell and back no matter how carefull you dust them!

That's Y U use a microfiber cloth, because it doesn't scratch sensitive surfaces (i.e glossy PS3, eye glasses, etc.).
