just play your music on a stereo and turn down the game sounds. If it's got the option to turn down just music, then even better for you.

Burnout Paradise is the only game I know that lets you listen to the music on your PS3 while you play the game. I know there's a few others, I just can't think of any right now.

This. I don't know why this is such a big deal for people. Chances are, if you have a PS3... you probably have a computer or stereo that also plays music. Just do that, and you can enjoy your music in between load times and/or game changes.

Red Dead Redemption allows you to do this as well. It's total crap that all games don't, this is a no-brainer and is programmer laziness at its prime for such a simple implementation.

I thought all new games on the PS3 would have this by now. I think Killzone 2 has it too.

Nope. You'll have to play your music externally.

Ghetto, but I do this with my Psp due to the "powa of de cell procezzor" can't handle mp3 playback in game.

I don't know why this is such a big deal for people.

Maybe because some of us like to easily hear the sounds of the game AND our music? From the same source? Crazy, I know. I actually use this feature on my 360 quite frequently. It seems like another one of those no-brainer features (along with cross-game chat and voice messaging) that a console that "Only does everything" should have implemented a long time ago.

There's tons of things the PS3 is superior at, but then you come to things like this where you can't help but facepalm at Sony's ignorance.

its microsofts fault they bought the rights to it so it can only be implimented in certain ways yes i do like to listen to my music but bar racing games and some fighting games (arrgggg indestructable will drive you mad in sf4) the official soundtrack is better as it matches the play better although on may i think in a new update you can in most i think just go to xmb and music and choose playlist from there now so it doesnt matter but its awqard as said about ms buying the rights to these things thats why on psn+ i belive has the cross game chat as they have to pay license fee to someone so would not be good buisness to pay for somethink without gett ing a return

Some games allow it. Tekken 6 for example allows this.

naw sony fails when it comes to multiprocessing, basically our ps3's are such peices of crap that when you play an audio track you cannot do anything else while the track playing. I am just amazed that I don't have to quit game in order to text message someone, ty sony for the scraps.

Most PSN games support in-game music and a few Bluray titles (Singstar, Sonic Unheashed, Killzone 2 multiplayer..etc..etc) - I wish I knew exactly why Sony haven't given us a universial in-game music feature yet, either that patent rumour is true or they just want the devolopers to make that decision.

i guess they will it might save on money for license on music for them if only had this so i would think many racers would have this good buisness practice plus guys at gt are pedantic when coming to realism they didnt want to do damage yet thats why the delay (blame yourselves for the delay) as they were asked over and over.

Yes. They already confirmed it. Add Red Dead Redemption and Modnation Racers to the list
