I don't understand the question. Of course it can play PS3 games. However, if the games require an install to the HDD you definitely won't have enough space. Is that what you mean?

There are plenty of great games on PSN. Purchase a ps3 with atleast 160gb now. 12gb is way too low.... And do you really want to delete and install a game almost every time you want to switch a game? Some games take a very long time to install. There were plenty of deals around black friday and xmas where ps3 was 160gbs and came with games for like $199. You could even buy a $279.... 250gb ps3 bundel with god of war saga and medal of honor warfighter and then sell the games for like $50-60 to make it cheaper for you. On amazon, they have the 250gb bundel with playstation allstars, ratchet and clank collection and a blu-ray remote controller.

How much is the ps3 with 12 gb cost now? I haven't seen their advertised price yet.

12gb isnt going to last you sh*t. First of all there are firmware updates that with take a chunk of that 12gb. I had a 40gb and that was a nightmare cuz that thing fills up fast just for playing games. 12gb is simply not enough, 80gb or plus if you want to play games.

You're talking about playing them off the disc, not digital downloads, right? If you plan on downloading games, especially 'real' games like Uncharted or Heavy Rain, as opposed to PSN games, then you have zero chance of playing anything, because downloading a 7.5GB game will require you to have at least 15GB of hard drive space. So, if you plan on downloading anything - games, movies, music, or app software for various online services - a 12GB PS3 is not going to work for you. That said, if you don't care about any of the online stuff, aside from maybe using Sony's online save system, and you just want to play games from the disc, then you could probably squeak by with the 12GB version. The required hard drive space for Uncharted is around 3GB (and 1GB each for Uncharted 2 and 3). Not sure about Heavy Rain. But most games seem to come in around 5GB (though, typically it's less), with the highest I've seen being around 10GB. Though, I'm told some of the Forza games have pretty massive hard drive requirements. But, if you're willing to uninstall games between plays, you should be able to play 95% of the games out there. Realistically, though, unless the 12GB is priced ridiculously cheap - like $99 cheap - I would advise against buying it. You should be able to get a 160GB PS3 for $200 or less. And while you may never actually need anywhere near that much space, it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Yeah don't think its enough space if you want to install and play a few games at once - I don't understand why they made it with such little space. You can probably pick up a 160 or even 250gb slim for not much more these days anyway.

My old 40 gb is a pain to manage in term of HDD space, I hardly imagine 12 gb. You're gonna cry when you'll reach the 12 gb limit (Probably a week after you bought it...)

I didn't know they're selling those kind of ps3, how much is it?

I dind't see the price, 99$? Maybe if you buy it at 99$ and then you switch the HDD, if you have one laying around you can save a few bucks.

You will be able to re-installed games, 1 or 2 at a times. Some games unfortunately could require larger GB for install but I really do suggest you pick up and upgrade to larger HDD (takes 5-10 minutes to do it, very easy). Watch YouTube videos how to upgrade.

If you use the PSplus cloud storage system. You should be O.K with the 12GB flash model Superslim. But it is a PAL region only model. This is strange as Sony cancelled the original Playstation 3 20GB HDD model back in April 2007. Just 5 months that PS3 was available but unpopular due to the small HDD. Now Sony introduces a 12GB flash memory model. Yes the PS3 superslim 12GB is able to play all Playstation 3 games. you are just going to have to constantly install and uninstall Game Data which is sometimes manatory. I guess if you only want to play a few games then the PS3 12GB flash superslim is for you.

Plus you can add any SATA 2.5 Computer HDD. Thus far Sony has released 20GB,40GB,60GB,80GB,120GB,160GB,250GB,320GB,500GB HDD's preinstalled for Playstation 3 consoles. This is Sony's first Flash memory model and the Smallest at 12GB

It works with all PS3 games. But you will have to upgrade the memory. Any SATA 2.5 HDD will work with a regular PS3 but you have to use an external HDD with the PS3 12GB

Megavideogamer
That's incorrect. You can upgrade the 12 gig Superslim with a 2.5" SATA as well. The catch is, you will need to buy the hard drive caddy as well and you will not be adding extra storage but only using the extra storage. Eg. Installing a 250 gig hard drive to a 12 gig Superslim (250gig + 12 gig) will give you 250 gig of storage not 262 gig. So a back up and restore is required if there are some saves needed. In saying this, the 12 gig is a waste of money to a gamer and is better looked at as a Bluray player that has capability to play the odd PS1 and PS3 game.

Hell no. The PSN+ Cloud save option is only for game saves. Game saves dont take much space in the first place, its the mandatory game installs that that take space as well as update installs, which the Cloud Save does not cover.

FWIW 12gig ps3 is cheap here in uk 150 quid from amazon. Buy a 16 quid 160gig hdd (also from amazon) the cheap mount rack and you've got a full gaming rig for under 200. Idea for low budgets. I've done this it's safer than buying second hand PS3s in UK (awful broken/banned ps3 trade here) for about the same price. If you're buying a PS3 this far into it's life you've probably got your main stash of games on XBOX and only want it for those exclusives you've always wanted and coming (all those JRPGs for me) 160 gig is more than enough.

I installed gran turismo from the disc and it took 15GB for an installation. I guess you can't even play that game on the tiny 12gb super slim.
