I just got the metal gear solid essential collection from best buy and was wondering if my PS3 will play the original MGS. Does anyone know? I know my PS3 is compatible with PS2 games, but I'm not sure if it can play PS1 games.

Actually when you put in MGS1 into the PS3 it plays Formula 1 2000 instead. So thats good for you

K, I figured it's just that as I mentioned Formula 1 2000 didn't work, and I seemed to remember word going around that there was some compatibility issues despite the PS3 supposedly being fully backward compatible, for PS1 games at least. Anyway, I'll take your word for it and order a copy of MGS 1. Ahhhh the nostalgia..... :)
