I can't believe full external hdd support is finally coming. I've been using an external on my Wii U and I have never been so happy with it. I hate deleting games only to play other gsmes because I'm the type of gamer who likes to bounce back and forth between games. I have no time or room in my schedule for 5+ hour downloads+installation . I miss the plug and play days of old where this wasn't an issue. Now that games don't run off their discs anymore, the 500gb internal hard drive is a joke. Thank you Sony for finally giving us this much needed feature.

So instead of 10 secs loading times on games, its now 45 secs...

I think I'll stay with SATA.

replacing the HDD is quite easy to do and I feel it is a better solution than external HDD

You can now have a pretty good combo for a 2tb HDD on the PS4, and a small SSD for the games you are currently playing. So in the end you dont have to delete anything, and transferring between the to drives in painless, and only takes a few minutes to transfer your games over.

I was genuinely surprised by this. I haven't had my ps4 long enough to need an external so I had no idea that it didn't already support them.

Like the idea of external HDD support. I wouldn't reccommend running games directly off them but it would be great if we could swap games between the two drives, as opposed to reinstalling/redownloading

Small price to pay for extra storage space for people who have a lot of games filling up their 2TB storage.

I know, I've seen it already. For people who buy all the big games that need extra space, this is great news for them.

That would be pretty great. Kind of like drag and drop?

My 500gb ran out of space so I had to get a new HDD. I was bummed out when I found out I couldn't just use an external to store games into too. I thought it was funny that Sony was late to the party while Nintendo and Microsoft were enjoying this feature for the Wii U and Xbox One. I'm not sure if the 360 supported externals since I have never had an Xbox since the original came out.

People with a tiny bit of creativity and know how, aren't limited by a 2.5" 2TB. Research also helps.
